Reporting at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Van Tu, Deputy Director in charge of VPI, stated that with the close attention, support, and guidance of the Group's leadership, VPI has decisively and comprehensively implemented solutions in management, finance, and human resources, exceeding 7 targets in the 2025 plan. These targets include a 6% increase in scientific and technological products, a 21% increase in average labor productivity, and a 10% increase in revenue and after-tax profit.
The Institute has focused on implementing key tasks assigned by the corporation, such as: developing the Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050; researching and proposing a model for Petrovietnam's Eco-Energy Industrial Center; currently implementing five strategic technology products (led by VPI) and actively coordinating the implementation of 13 other assigned strategic technology products…
In addition, the Vietnam Petroleum Institute has promoted the development of commercial products from research results, registering copyrights with 3 patents and utility model certificates, 3 validly accepted patent applications, 13 copyright registration certificates, 8 single-product products, and 1 experimental technology. The institute has effectively implemented commercialization efforts, with six products resulting from research being put into application.
At the same time, the Institute has focused on applied research and scientific and technological services, closely linked to and deeply involved in the production and business value chain of the Group and its units: strategic planning; increasing production output, optimizing costs, technology, and new products.
In 2025, the Institute developed 17 new clients, including 15 domestic partners and 2 new foreign clients (from Malaysia and Canada) for sample analysis and research services, thereby gradually affirming VPI's reputation and competitiveness in the open market.

The Vietnam Petroleum Institute has implemented a comprehensive set of advanced management methods, proactively adapting to market fluctuations through: close and timely management, flexible solutions for plan implementation and cost control; consolidating traditional areas/partnerships, seeking to expand into new areas and partners/customers; and strongly shifting towards a multi-faceted open cooperation model, connecting experts, and leveraging external resources to deploy strategic technologies. Adhering to the motto "Renewing old drivers, adding new ones," the Institute has renewed traditional drivers and added new ones based on data, technology, innovation, and incentive mechanisms.
Regarding key tasks and solutions for 2026, Dr. Nguyen Van Tu stated that VPI will coordinate the proposal and refinement of a model for merging the three scientific research and training units; restructure the organizational structure, supplement human resources, and improve VPI's internal policies and mechanisms to ensure resources and enhance operational efficiency, quickly adapting to the merged model once approved by the Group; maximize internal resources, optimize and reduce costs; increase revenue and improve the quality of revenue and income for employees.
Simultaneously, VPI allocates resources to consulting, developing, and implementing annual/medium- and long-term strategies and plans; policy mechanisms; and standards/regulations in the energy and industry sector to serve the management and operation of the group/state agencies; and organizing the implementation of the group's strategic technology product projects until 2030, ensuring timely completion and quality. It proactively and innovatively proposes and implements key projects/tasks: Traditional oil and gas (E&P); New materials, chemicals, and fuels; New and renewable energy, various types of storage batteries; Digital technology : AI, IoT, robotics, databases; Technologies and products for environmental safety, and orientation for the nuclear power sector.

In his keynote address at the conference, Dr. Le Xuan Huyen, Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam, noted the key tasks that VPI needs to focus on in 2026, the first year of implementing the 2026-2030 Five-Year Plan, implementing Petrovietnam's Science and Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050; and the Petrovietnam Group Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
With the goal of making practical and effective contributions to Petrovietnam's transformation from traditional oil and gas to the energy industry through scientific research, Dr. Le Xuan Huyen requested the Vietnam Petroleum Institute to focus on the following key tasks: Restructuring and perfecting the organizational structure, with VPI as the core of Petrovietnam's scientific research and innovation, creating human resources and motivation in terms of infrastructure and policy mechanisms; leading and supporting the Group and its units in implementing strategic technologies until 2030; advising and proposing policy mechanisms for Petrovietnam's eco-energy industrial centers and policies to attract high-quality human resources; and building a database and digital transformation.
