Following the merger, the Education and Training sector in Bac Ninh has expanded its development space, with an increase in the number of teachers and students, contributing to raising the sector's standing. Bac Ninh is leveraging its strengths and the scholarly traditions of the Kinh Bac region to aim towards becoming one of the leading centers of high-quality education in the country.
Many favorable conditions for breakthrough.
According to the Bac Ninh Department of Education and Training, after the merger, the province currently has 1,221 schools (of which, the former Bac Giang province has 759 schools, and the former Bac Ninh province has 462 schools); 27,037 classrooms (of which, the former Bac Giang province has 15,430 classrooms, and the former Bac Ninh province has 11,607 classrooms); and 910,563 preschool children and students at all levels (of which, the former Bac Giang province has 520,477 preschool children and students; and the former Bac Ninh province has 390,086 preschool children and students).
Bac Ninh province has 14 Vocational Training and Continuing Education Centers; 2 Continuing Education Centers; 1 Provincial Center for Continuing Education, Foreign Languages, and Informatics; and 1 Provincial Center for Special Education and Social Welfare. In addition, there are 3 ethnic boarding schools; 3 colleges (Bac Ninh College of Education, Bac Ninh College of Health, Bac Ninh College of Industry); and 2 vocational schools (Bac Ninh Vocational School of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Thuan Thanh Vocational School of Economics , Technology and Handicrafts). By July 2025, Bac Ninh province will have 1,153 types of education centers and community learning centers in 99 communes/wards throughout the province.
Regarding the workforce, Bac Ninh province currently has 46,846 education administrators, teachers, and school staff; the quality of the workforce at all levels continues to improve, effectively meeting the requirements of educational reform. The percentage of those meeting the standard qualifications is 97.7%; the percentage of those with above-standard qualifications is 40.8%. The quality of the teaching staff and education administrators continues to improve both in quantity and quality.
Before their merger, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang were localities with strong educational development movements in terms of scale, quality, and educational structure. The indicators of access to and universalization of education in both provinces were among the leading in the country, and both provinces had implemented synchronized goals and output standards for all levels of education.
For the former Bac Ninh province, during the 2020-2025 term, the Bac Ninh education sector achieved and exceeded 6 out of 6 targets and was one of the Party Committees that finished early in implementing the Resolution of the 20th Congress of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee. For the former Bac Giang education sector, it was honored to receive the Emulation Flag from the Government for two consecutive years (2023, 2024).
According to statistics, the entire province of Bac Ninh only has 97.7% of schools meeting national standards level 1 (level 2 is 67.9%); the rate of classroom modernization in public schools is 98.8%. Notably, in national and international student competitions, both Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces (before their merger) achieved many impressive results.
At the 2024-2025 National Excellent Student Selection Examination, the former Bac Ninh province had 81 out of 86 candidates winning prizes, including 12 first prizes, 34 second prizes, 24 third prizes, and 11 consolation prizes - achieving a success rate of 94.19%, ranking first nationwide; the former Bac Giang province had 99 out of 120 candidates winning prizes, including 5 first prizes, 14 second prizes, 45 third prizes, and 35 consolation prizes - achieving a success rate of 82.5%, ranking fourth nationwide.
In the 2025 regional and international Olympiads, Bac Ninh province will have 5 students from Bac Ninh Specialized High School participating in 6 international and regional competitions in 3 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. As of July 15, 2025, two students have won Gold Medals (Ngo Quang Minh - Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad - ICho 2025 and Nguyen Cong Vinh - Gold Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad - AphO). This is an encouraging result, demonstrating the determination of all levels and sectors to improve the overall quality of education in recent years.
Continue to develop comprehensive education.

Speaking with the Education and Training Newspaper, Mr. Ta Viet Hung, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province, said that the entire sector is preparing and implementing the plan and tasks for the 2025-2026 school year effectively and with high quality.

Mr. Ta Viet Hung also emphasized the effort to spread a reading culture throughout the industry, a key task contributing to the aspiration of making Bac Ninh a centrally-governed city with a high-quality workforce.
“Immediately after the merger, the entire province had a widespread network of 1221 educational institutions. All schools have libraries or reading corners. This is a solid foundation for us to implement reading promotion activities in a synchronized and effective manner.”
We place particular emphasis on high school students, encouraging them to read publications with profound intellectual value and educational guidance. Among these, reputable publications such as the Education and Times newspaper are considered important resources for the education sector, helping teachers stay updated on the Party and State's policies and guidelines, as well as the Ministry of Education and Training's directives. News, events, and exemplary role models help students broaden their knowledge and develop critical thinking skills.
To keep up with the trend, reading is no longer limited to printed materials. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province has advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve the Online Library Management project to serve the needs of schools. At the same time, it has directed schools to strengthen the application of information technology in developing a reading culture.
In addition, schools are guided to effectively utilize the online versions of the Education and Times Newspaper and other reputable news sites. Many libraries have become open reading spaces, equipped with computers connected to the Internet, and also use the school's website and fanpage to introduce and share good articles, creating a diverse, modern, and attractive reading ecosystem.

Previously, at the conference summarizing the 2024-2025 school year, Mr. Mai Son - Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province (now Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province) emphasized that the 2025-2026 school year opens a new phase, a new opportunity, but also poses great demands and challenges. The merger of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces places the task of building an education sector that leverages the strengths and academic traditions of both localities, creating the power to break through and become one of the high-quality education centers in the country.
