Bach Hoa pedestrian parade lands in Ho Chi Minh City on March 8

(NLDO) – More than 50,000 people performed folk dances in traditional long dresses and walked along Nguyen Hue walking street to celebrate March 8.


The 11th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival is taking place on Nguyen Hue walking street, Ho Chi Minh City. Within the framework of the festival, a folk dance performance with more than 50,000 participants, of which 3,000 people paraded on Nguyen Hue street on the morning of March 8. For the first time, the festival organized a traditional costume parade with more than 1,000 people, recreating the national cultural identity.

For the first time, the festival organized a parade of traditional costumes with more than 1,000 people, recreating the national cultural identity.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Head of External Relations and Communications for the 2025 Hundred Flowers Walk, said that the Hundred Flowers Walk is not just a parade but also has the meaning of widely promoting Vietnamese history through traditional costumes of each period. This event has more than 1,000 participants, gathering many costumes from 30 ancient costume research units across Vietnam.

"After 4 successful seasons in Hanoi , this is also a long journey to spread the values ​​and beauty of the nation's culture through each piece of Vietnamese clothing. There are also many costumes, spanning historical dynasties from Le Trung Hung to Nguyen Dynasty... Hopefully, through this activity, we can introduce more closely to the people, especially the young people of Ho Chi Minh City, the colorful perspectives of Vietnamese culture" - the representative of the 2025 Bach Hoa Walking Event shared.

In the Vietnamese costume of the Le Trung Hung period, Tram Anh (living in District 10) feels proud to be Vietnamese. "When I wear this costume, I feel very happy and proud, I feel like I am also a part of the culture, of history, I can contribute to promoting it so that more people know, our country's Vietnamese costume is also very beautiful" - Tram Anh said.

Mr. Trong Hieu prepared early in the morning and traveled from Ben Tre to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in Bach Hoa Bo Hanh. "The outfit I chose today is the wedding dress of a Southern woman in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I feel very proud to be a Southerner and want to introduce the costumes of the Southern people, Vietnam to everyone" - Mr. Hieu confided.

"We really like the Ao Dai, which shows off our curves. There are many people attending the Ao Dai Festival today. The Ao Dai is very beautiful, with many different patterns, the Ao Dai we are wearing is the same. We are from Germany and in Germany there are no traditional costumes as beautiful as that. In Vietnam there are many opportunities to wear traditional Ao Dai, you can see people wearing them every day and especially at festivals, we really like it" - two German tourists Johanna and Ellis expressed.

Coming with friends to participate in the Ao Dai Festival, Ms. Kim Phuong (living in District 3) shared: "Participating in the Ao Dai Festival today, I went with everyone here to take pictures, there are many things for me to be proud of. I took pictures with the group in such a large and beautiful ao dai, foreign tourists looked at it and liked it very much. Each person has their own style, the ao dai flatters the figure, Vietnamese women have a very natural beauty".

This year's Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival focuses on activities to enhance the experience for people and tourists through programs such as the art "Ao Dai with life", the contest "Charming Ao Dai Ho Chi Minh City", drawing, beautiful online Ao Dai photos, free mini-size Ao Dai workshop, Ao Dai drawing... lasting until March 9, 2025.
