On the morning of June 20, at the Hall of the People's Committee of An Giang province, the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (Provincial Steering Committee 389) held a conference to review the work in 2024 and summarize the peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

The conference was chaired by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, Permanent Deputy Head of the Working Group for the implementation of the peak (Decision 797/QD-UBND) of An Giang province, Le Van Phuoc.

Also attending the conference were members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, the working group implementing the peak, representatives of departments, leaders of the Steering Committee 389 of districts, towns, cities, and professional units of the Provincial Police and the Department of Industry and Trade.

Outstanding results in this work in 2024, 1,197 cases were handled, exhibits worth 59.3 billion VND, 45 criminal cases were prosecuted. In the first 5 months of 2025, 281 cases were detected, 119 cases were fined, over 4.6 billion VND was collected, 15 cases were prosecuted. During the peak 30 days, the authorities inspected 220 cases, detected 102 violations, handled 57 cases, and collected 642.71 million VND for the budget.

The conference had 8 opinions expressed, deeply analyzed difficulties and problems, proposed solutions, such as: Strengthening inter-sectoral coordination, applying technology and improving information coordination mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc acknowledged the efforts of departments, branches and localities in recent times; at the same time, he requested that units continue to promote their core role, proactively detect and strictly handle violations of the law on smuggling, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights. "We need to move from being passive to being proactive, from preventing to eliminating networks and gangs, especially in key border areas" - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

Accordingly, the key tasks in the coming time will continue to be implemented, such as: Maintaining the work of preventing and combating smuggling from the border to the inland and cyberspace. Strengthening specialized and interdisciplinary inspections, avoiding omissions and formal inspections. Strictly controlling e-commerce, livestreaming the sale of counterfeit goods, and high-tech fraud. Strictly handling violations, denunciations, and building specialized inspection teams. Tightening the management of cadres and civil servants, handling acts of covering up and assisting smuggling. No forbidden areas, no exceptions, no recurrence of hot spots, formation of legal depressions. Promoting the role of people and businesses doing honest business, deploying hotlines and 24/7 digital platforms to receive feedback information. Promoting legal propaganda and widely implementing the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"...

Within the framework of the conference, the organizing committee awarded 3 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province, including: Provincial Police; Vinh Xuong International Border Gate Customs Branch and Nhon Hung Border Guard Station.
