The giant land turtle, with the scientific name: Heosemys grandis, is an omnivorous species, suitable for many different habitat conditions, can live both underwater and on land, in rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, etc. Due to being hunted and depleted, this turtle species is included in the list of rare, endangered, and precious wild animals that need to be strictly protected according to the provisions of law.

Previously (August 25 and 27), Hue City Wildlife Sanctuary received the above 3 turtles from people who voluntarily surrendered them with the wish to release them back into the wild. After a period of care, the turtles' health was stable and normal, Hue City Wildlife Sanctuary handed them over to the Vietnam Nature Conservation Center and Animal and Plant Rescue Center to release them back into the wild according to regulations.
