The price of SJC gold bars traded at DOJI in Hanoi at the end of the session on January 8 was also listed at 71 million VND per tael for buying and 74 million VND per tael for selling.

The international spot gold price on the Kitco floor at 9:30 p.m. on January 8, Vietnam time, was at $2,019.4 per ounce. Meanwhile, the gold price for February 2024 delivery on the Comex New York floor was at $2,026.1 per ounce.

The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US dollar announced by the State Bank on January 8 was 23,933 VND/USD, up 1 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on January 8 decreased slightly, closing the session listed around 24,145-24,515 VND/USD (buy - sell).

In line with the trend, the world USD price also decreased. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - at 9:26 p.m. on January 8, Vietnam time was at 102.36 points, down 0.05% compared to the previous session.

Today, January 9, the price of gasoline and oil in the international market continued to slide following the downward trend from the previous session. Brent oil price fell to 76 USD per barrel, WTI oil price fell to 71 USD per barrel.

According to analysts, oil prices plummeted due to increased production from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and a sharp reduction in prices by the world's leading oil exporter, Saudi Arabia.

In the domestic market, the selling prices of gasoline and oil today, January 9, are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of January 4 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade.

Accordingly, retail prices of gasoline and oil have been adjusted down, some down to 21,000 VND per liter.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased to 21,006 VND per liter. The price of RON 95 gasoline decreased to 21,916 VND per liter.

Diesel prices dropped to VND19,368 per liter. Kerosene prices dropped to VND19,957 per liter. Fuel oil prices dropped to VND15,495 per kilogram.
