The international passenger train from Nanning (China) has arrived at Dong Dang station ( Lang Son ) after 5 years of interruption.

Previously, from May 25, 2025, Vietnam Railways Corporation officially restored the Vietnam - China international passenger train. After nearly 2 months, there were more than 2,700 passengers traveling by train.

However, passengers must go directly to the stations on the Hanoi - Dong Dang route such as: Hanoi, Gia Lam, Bac Giang , Dong Dang to buy tickets. Therefore, the railway has expanded its ticket sales network to all stations across the country, to increase accessibility and create convenience for customers.

Currently, international train travel between the two countries is increasingly convenient and fast, with immigration procedures carried out directly at international railway stations.

However, according to the regulations of the authorities, electronic visas (E-visas) are not valid for exit procedures from Vietnam by rail; passengers are required to use a valid paper visa.

Specifically, the international passenger train MR1/T8702/Z6 departs at 9:20 p.m. every day from Gia Lam station (Hanoi); in China, the train arrives at Bang Tuong, Chong Zuo stations and the final station is Nanning. For the special route, the train departs every Tuesday and Friday, and tickets will be sold to passengers traveling to Que Lam Bac, Hoanh Duong, Truong Sa, Trinh Chau stations and the final station is Beijing West.

Ticket purchase process

Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company guides passengers through the ticket purchase and check-in process to ensure a smooth journey.

Step 1: Buy tickets at the nearest station: Passengers go to any Vietnam Railway station, present their passport and paper visa (valid) to the ticket seller to make the transaction. After completion, passengers will receive a "Receipt of payment" as confirmation.

Step 2: Passengers bring their passport, visa and "Receipt" to the departure station to check in and receive their "Ticket Book" to board the train.

Step 3: Receive the "Ticket Book" at the departure station, the railway staff will check the valid information and exchange the "Receipt" for a "Ticket Book" (official train ticket for international travel).

Please note that passengers need to be present at the departure station at least 1 hour before the train departs to complete the procedure of receiving the "Ticket Book". Vietnam Railways will not handle cases of arriving at the departure station after the train departs.

For passengers who need to apply for a Chinese visa or buy a train ticket to go deep into mainland China, Vietnam Railways will send a contact person to contact and support.
