I don't understand what is happening to theeducation sector when in recent days there have been many cases of school violence involving the participation of teachers, at all levels, in many localities.
The first case was a 12th grade student of Da Phuc High School (Soc Son, Hanoi ) who was grabbed by the collar and dragged through the hallway by his homeroom teacher just because he bought the wrong cake, which has been causing a stir in public opinion.
Next, a teacher at Phan Huy Chu High School, Thach That District, Hanoi, used the pronoun "you - me", pointed at a student's face and scolded "do you understand, dog" right in the classroom.
Most recently, a fourth-grade student at Hai Hoa Primary School in Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province, was beaten with a bamboo stick by his teacher, causing bruises on his back for refusing to do his homework.
Not only high school and elementary school students, even preschool students - such as students at the private preschool BBMC (on Soi Tien Street, Kim Tan Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province) - are also victims of school violence when they have to witness their teachers fighting with their own eyes.
Remember the second half of the previous school year (2022-2023 school year), a series of school violence incidents between students took place in many schools across the country, causing public outrage due to the recklessness and cruelty of many students and groups of students.
Public opinion at that time blamed the education sector, parents and students. That school violence occurred continuously in many localities due to the parties' lack of awareness and coordination in education, deterrence and prevention...
However, school violence, with teachers participating in "demonstrating" with anti-educational, anti-pedagogical actions and words, even very vulgar like you - me, dog or dragging students by the shirt... the fault and disintegration has probably touched the foundation, the root of the education system.
It is time for the education sector to look straight at the truth and carry out a major rectification from the root in the style of "it's better to suffer once" rather than cutting the branches and trimming the branches in the style of "the principal is not the boss in the school" as warned by Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son in a recent meeting with teachers nationwide.
If the mirror is not bright, the face will be dirty. If the superiors are not upright, the subordinates will be in chaos. If teachers at all levels continue to create "dark mirrors" and "dirty mirrors" like this, at some point, even a panacea will be unable to cure it!
