In the days following storm No. 5, widespread power outages in many localities in Ha Tinh have significantly affected people's lives and production. Faced with the risk of continued complicated weather developments, many households have proactively sought to buy generators to prevent similar situations from occurring. Records in localities in the province show that the purchasing power of power generation equipment has increased dramatically, with many places falling into a state of "out of stock" in the first few days after the storm.
Faced with the sharp increase in people's demand for generators during widespread power outages, many household electrical stores, even those not specializing in this product, quickly imported them to meet the demand.

Mr. Bui Van Xuan - owner of Hoa Xuan electrical appliances store (Nguyen Chi Thanh street, Thanh Sen ward) said: "My store specializes in household electrical appliances, so I didn't have generators available before. But seeing that people were asking to buy so much, I imported goods under 5 million VND to make it easier to sell. However, this item requires knowledge of repair and warranty, so I was quite hesitant to import large quantities. Currently, cheap generators are still in high demand on the market."
Not only households, many service businesses such as restaurants and eateries also quickly sought to buy generators to maintain operations. Mr. Tran Van Hung - owner of a restaurant in Thien Cam commune said: "After storm No. 5, the power outage lasted nearly 2 days, causing serious damage to seafood tanks and freezers. Without electricity, dozens of kilograms of fresh seafood would be spoiled, causing huge losses. Therefore, the restaurant is considering investing in a large capacity generator, worth about 20 - 30 million VND, enough to run the freezer, aerator and basic lighting system."

About 1-2 days after storm No. 5, almost every store was out of stock, making it difficult for buyers to find the right type of machine. According to Mr. Trinh Thang - owner of Thang Sinh electronics store in Thanh Sen ward, purchasing power in the days after the storm increased 10 times compared to normal days. The facility proactively imported goods early when it grasped the increased demand after the storm. The goods were imported from the company, with listed prices and clear invoices and documents.
The generator market in Ha Tinh is currently quite diverse in types and prices, meeting many different needs of people. In particular, the most popular are still gasoline-powered machines thanks to their compactness, ease of operation and affordable prices. Small capacity gasoline generators include Honda EB1000 or Elemax SHX1000. With higher demand, people can choose machines such as Honda EZ3000CX... The price of gasoline generators usually ranges from 6 to 20 million VND depending on the type and features.

"My family just bought a gasoline generator for 4.8 million VND, with enough capacity to run a fan, TV and some basic appliances in the house. A diesel generator has a larger capacity but is expensive, consumes fuel and is noisy, while my family only needs it temporarily when there is a power outage. A gasoline generator is compact, easy to start and fits my budget, so I chose this model. Recently, there was a power outage for many days, so I bought a generator for convenience. I saw many people buying it but there were no products available," said Mr. Le Dang Hung (Dong Tien commune).
It is known that diesel generators are also chosen by some businesses and small production facilities because of their ability to operate more durably over a long period of time. However, diesel generators are often more expensive than gasoline generators due to the way they operate; many machines can cost up to 40 - 50 million VND, even hundreds of millions of VND if they are specialized industrial machines.
Currently, many households also take advantage of repairing old generators to save costs. Mr. Truong Huu Mau (Tan Quy village, Tran Phu ward) said: "Every day after the storm, my facility receives about 15 generators for repair. The repair cost ranges from 50,000 to 500,000 VND per machine, mainly due to the damaged mechanism due to long-term disuse."

Faced with the increasing demand for generators during the rainy and stormy season, authorities recommend that people research carefully before buying, choosing products with clear origins, genuine warranties, and suitable for the actual capacity of their household or business.
Recently, the Ha Tinh Market Management Department has also increased inspection and supervision of generator and household electrical equipment sales points to strictly handle violations such as illegal price increases, failure to post prices, or posting prices that do not match reality.
The use of generators must ensure absolute safety, avoid operating the machine in closed spaces, near flammable materials or near living areas, to prevent the risk of fire, explosion, CO, CO2 poisoning. In addition to proactively equipping backup equipment, each family also needs to raise awareness of electrical safety, ready to respond to unusual situations that may occur during this year's rainy and stormy season.
