Technology brings museums closer to the public
At Lao Cai Provincial Museum, digitization work is being vigorously implemented. More than 1,000 documents and artifacts have been digitized; 560 paper artifacts and 300 documentary films have had their images standardized.

In particular, the 3D virtual museum has officially launched, bringing visitors a new and vivid experience.
3D technology combined with QR codes not only helps to safely store documents, serving scientific research, but also tells vivid stories about the history and culture of ethnic groups in the highlands.
With just a smartphone or computer with internet connection, visitors can rotate 360 degrees, admiring every detail of hundreds or thousands of years old antiques without touching them.
Pham Gia Khiem, a 12A2 student at Lao Cai High School, said: “I think digitizing culture in museums is very necessary. Thanks to technology, we can access the traditional culture of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province more easily. The artifacts are preserved for a long time, and with just a click of the mouse, we can explore them without having to go there.”

The book page is revived in digital space
Not only stopping at museums, Lao Cai Provincial Library is also contributing to the strong digital transformation process of the cultural sector. Thousands of books, newspapers, and rare documents are digitized every year, expanding access for readers, while protecting documents at risk of damage over time.

Through the digital library system, students and researchers can easily look up and access learning and research resources without being limited by space or time.
Every year, we digitize more than 35,000 pages of documents, focusing on documents on folk culture, local customs and practices. These documents are archived to serve the preservation, research and study of the people, especially the younger generation.
Journey to preserve and spread digital heritage
Lao Cai is currently one of the localities richest in cultural heritage in the country, with 4 representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity, 56 national intangible heritages, and nearly 100 traditional festivals and rituals of ethnic groups.

Realizing that value, Lao Cai province has been promoting cultural digitization, considering it an inevitable direction in managing, promoting and developing heritage values. However, this process still faces many challenges in terms of human resources, technology and financial resources.
Mr. Duong Tuan Nghia - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province, said: The cultural sector is building a project to digitize culture with relatively large resources, while increasing human resources and promoting propaganda and promotion. The goal is to help all levels and sectors better understand the role of digital technology in the cultural field, serving more effective management and promoting more widely.
With a long-term vision, Lao Cai is affirming that digitalization is an inevitable path to preserve and promote cultural values in the digital age. This is not only an effort to preserve the past, but also a strategic step to bring the image of the land and people of the Fatherland's border closer to domestic and international friends.
In the digital space, every artifact, every festival, every folk story of Lao Cai has the opportunity to be spread and preserved for future generations.
