Cao Phong orange is a famous specialty of Hoa Binh province, the first and only agricultural product of the province to date to be granted a Geographical Indication. Cao Phong orange has a thin skin, is juicy, has a sweet and fragrant taste, and yellow pulp. Many orange varieties are almost seedless, suitable for market demand. More importantly, over the years, Cao Phong orange growers have always strived to maintain and provide the market with products that are friendly to producers and safe for users. Thereby creating stable and sustainable development for the Cao Phong orange brand.


Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, De hamlet, Bac Phong commune (Cao Phong) regularly visits and takes care of his family's orange garden.

The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, De hamlet, Bac Phong commune is one of the few garden owners in the district who still owns a 17-year-old orange garden. Nearly 1 hectare was planted and cared for by his family, ensuring strict compliance with clean orange production processes. The family spent more than 600 million VND to invest in water sources, clean soil improvement, care, and fertilization according to clean and sustainable production processes. The quality of oranges has since been continuously improved. Sensory evaluation shows that oranges grown according to VietGAP standards have a sweet, cool taste and, importantly, are absolutely safe to use. Although the yield is not as high as that of oranges grown in the traditional way, this is the choice of many orange growers in the district to maintain, preserve, and develop the local orange brand.

Strict compliance with the clean orange production process is also maintained by many agricultural cooperatives in the district. 3TFarm Cooperative is one of many leading units in applying this standard in planting, caring for and harvesting. Currently, the entire 20 hectares of orange growing area of ​​the Cooperative are produced according to VietGAP standards. 3TFarm Cooperative is always committed to providing the market with clean orange products that are safe for consumers and friendly to the environment.

Currently, Cao Phong district has 715.21 hectares of oranges of all kinds, of which the majority is commercial-period trees with nearly 674 hectares. This year's orange crop, the district is expected to yield 302 quintals/hectare, with an output of 20,348 tons.

Although the number of oranges produced according to the local VietGAP standards is still in effect at only 172 hectares, 100% of the orange growing area in the district uses biological products, microbial fertilizers, connecting producers and consumers through safe, quality agricultural products, protecting the ecological environment. Thereby, creating clean products, attracting many customers.

Comrade Bui Hoai Nhi, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: In addition to constantly improving quality, in recent times, the locality has focused on protecting and developing the Cao Phong orange brand. Accordingly, the district focuses on producing quality varieties selected and selected from the original trees. Good management of production, care, and labeling of origin. Along with that, the district will strengthen inspection and strictly handle organizations and individuals violating regulations on food safety and hygiene production, complete the registration of trademark protection, registration of codes, barcodes and printing of packaging and labels to bring branded orange products to consumers in a clear and transparent manner, maintaining and developing the Cao Phong orange brand. In particular, the district always promotes the responsibility of producers as well as traders.

Along with good management of the production process, tree care from fertilizer to pest control, product traceability to each household, the district is gradually striving to produce clean oranges according to GlobalGAP standards. To ensure the brand is maintained, the authorities and people of Cao Phong district have implemented the infrastructure project to develop concentrated safe orange production areas; supporting localities in food safety certification, product traceability stamps for citrus areas in the business cycle.
