Vinh Long Newspaper won second prize in the Mekong Delta Press Award

On May 24, 2024, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Hau Giang Provincial Journalists Association to organize the 8th Mekong Delta Press Awards Ceremony 2024 in Hau Giang province.

This year, the Organizing Committee received 350 entries in 4 types of journalism. The preliminary jury selected 140 entries for the final round. As a result, 22 excellent entries were awarded, including: 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes and 10 Encouragement Prizes. Vinh Long Newspaper won Second Prize in the print-electronic newspaper category with the work "Agricultural profession changes, farmers innovate" by authors Xuan Tuoi - Tuyet Hien.

According to the jury's assessment, the number of participating works is greater than last year; the quality of content has been significantly improved, creating a ripple effect, positively impacting all aspects of political, economic, cultural and social life.

Along with 22 excellent works honored at the award ceremony, hundreds of other works participating in the award have contributed to affirming the diversity, richness and creativity; demonstrating the interest, responsibility and enthusiasm of journalists towards major issues in the region.

Many entries were carefully and seriously prepared, reflecting truthfully and comprehensively, conveying many profound, meaningful and highly topical messages; reflecting the current situation in the localities. Thereby, contributing significantly to promoting the development of the Southern key economic region and consolidating the strategic area of special importance in terms of politics, economics, culture-society, national defense-security and foreign affairs.

Following the success of the award, the Organizing Committee launched the 9th Mekong Delta Press Award in 2025 with 4 types of journalism (print, electronic, radio and television).

Mr. Tran Trong Dung - Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Award Steering Committee emphasized that the works submitted and awarded are the crystallization of the enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, love for the profession, faith, and sincere feelings of those holding the pen and camera. The appeal and far-reaching impact of the works increasingly affirm the great support of all the people for the Vietnamese revolutionary press, on the journey of nearly a century of glorious service to the Fatherland and the People.

He also expressed his hope that the 9th Mekong Delta Press Award in 2025 - the year of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day - will have a higher number of participants as well as higher quality and more practical works, contributing to the transformation and quality of journalism in the Mekong Delta region and Vietnam Revolutionary journalism.
