The joy in the eyes of this young student today is the result of a journey of diligent study, overcoming material and mental difficulties when he lost his father at the age of 8.
On the morning of July 16, after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the exam scores, teachers and students of Hung Nhan High School burst into joy and pride when for the first time this school had a valedictorian in the high school graduation exam, especially the valedictorian in group A00 with the exam questions assessed as relatively difficult. Tran Huu Thinh shared that after the exam, he compared the results of his test with the Ministry's answers and got a positive result, but he did not think he would become the national valedictorian. When everyone informed him of this result, he was really happy.
Witnessing her son's learning journey, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xen (Luu Xa Nam village, Ngu Thien commune), Thinh's mother, could not hide her emotions. She said that the pain came when Thinh's father passed away from lung cancer when he was in 3rd grade. Since then, his mother has been single-handedly shouldering the burden, both as a mother and a father, working hard day and night to raise Thinh's three brothers to study. Currently, Thinh's eldest brother has opened a barber shop at home, the second brother is studying at the University of Culture, and Thinh is the youngest in the family. The life of the three of them since losing the family's breadwinner has been very difficult, but it was in that situation that Tran Huu Thinh became more courageous, strong and determined. He deeply understands his mother's hardships, and that is also the greatest motivation for him to constantly strive and study.

Throughout his studies, Thinh has always shown a proactive spirit, attentively listening to every lecture of his teachers, not missing any details. What is special is that he spends most of his time studying on his own and never hesitates to ask questions immediately when he encounters unclear knowledge. This is a good habit, helping him fill in the "gaps" in his knowledge. When he was in grade 9, he showed his talent for Chemistry when he won third prize in the provincial competition for excellent students. When he entered high school, his love for natural subjects became even more evident. In grade 12, he continued to win second prize in the provincial competition for excellent students in Chemistry.
The valedictorian of group A00, Tran Huu Thinh, shared that he studied with the most relaxed spirit. Only when he was truly relaxed could he absorb knowledge the fastest. Therefore, about a week before the high school graduation exam, he spent time balancing between playing and studying, not putting pressure on himself before the exam.
With excellent results in the high school graduation exam, Thinh expressed his desire to become a student at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and pursue the field of semiconductor microchips - a field full of potential and challenges. He also cherished the determination to win a scholarship to reduce the economic burden on his mother.

Teacher Bui Thi Nguyet, former Principal of Hung Nhan High School, said that Tran Huu Thinh is the pride and honor of his family, school and locality. Thinh is the first student of the school to achieve the title of valedictorian nationwide. Not only is he a good student, studying all subjects equally, but he also has a very high sense of self-study and self-training. Overcoming difficult circumstances and recognizing his efforts in studying and training, in grade 11, Tran Huu Thinh was one of the school's outstanding students to participate in a training class to raise awareness about the Party.
Ms. Dang Thi Thu Huyen, Thinh's homeroom teacher, said that in class, Thinh has a calm and modest personality, always ready to help his friends. He is not only a model student but also a spiritual support for many other students. Hopefully, with his personality and will, and his efforts to overcome difficulties, Tran Huu Thinh will continue to strive in the university to become a well-rounded excellent student.
This year's high school graduation exam is the first exam of the 2018 General Education Program.
