Doctors and nurses from the General Surgery Department of Hung Vuong Hospital, Gia Lai Province, performed surgery on the patient.

This is a special case, where the patient has lived with bladder stones for nearly 30 years, silently enduring prolonged pain in embarrassment.

According to MSc, Doctor Hoang Van Cong – Department of General Surgery, the patient had a history of bladder stones since childhood, frequently experiencing painful urination and lower abdominal pain, but did not receive proper treatment. Recently, the pain increased, and painful urination and the passage of stone fragments occurred, prompting the patient to seek medical attention.

Through examination and paraclinical tests, doctors discovered that the patient had a large stone occupying the entire bladder, posing a risk of mucosal damage, infection, and impaired urinary function. Due to the stone's enormous size, it could not be expelled naturally, so the doctors recommended performing a cystostomy to remove the stone.
