On average, each year, Hoang Ha Agricultural and Service Cooperative supplies nearly 500 tons of silkworm seeds to local farming households. Seeds are carefully selected before being supplied to the market, helping farmers in the breeding process to produce productive and quality silkworm cocoons.
Mr. Tran Quoc Doan, Director of Hoang Ha Agricultural and Service Cooperative said: "Silkworms must eat and sleep regularly, then the quality of silkworms that spin cocoons will be very even and of good quality. If the silkworms are not good when they are young, when they grow up, they will not spin silk."

The mulberry raw material area was also focused on by Bao Yen district to restore and expand after the impact of storm No. 3. Starting from November 2024, the mulberry cuttings were replanted. Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, in Tan Van village 1, Kim Son commune, Bao Yen district said: "Raising silkworms is quick and easy, it takes about 15 days to raise them until they can be sold, for example, a round of silkworms now costs 3 million VND on the market."
Mulberry source areas have been restored after damage caused by floods.
Bao Yen district aims to have more than 300 hectares of mulberry by the end of 2025, of which nearly 253 hectares will be newly planted. Currently, the entire political system is working together to complete the set goal.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, Director of Bao Yen District Agricultural Service Center added: "Some areas have been sown since the 2024 crop, about 20 hectares of seedlings can be planted immediately. The district also continues to support seeds for the people to ensure there are seedlings to plant in the autumn-winter crop of 2025".
Raising silkworms for cocoons brings a good source of income for breeders.
With the selling price ranging from 150,000 - 170,000 VND/kg of silkworm cocoons, in 2024, the mulberry growing and silkworm raising profession brought Bao Yen people a revenue of nearly 1 billion VND. Gradually turning mulberry into a key economic sector, Bao Yen district also focuses on implementing well the planning of growing areas, promoting the production chain between enterprises and producers; attracting organizations and individuals to invest in deep processing of mulberry products to meet market demand, increasing farmers' income.
