Barcelona players have just gone through the 2025 summer Asian tour. |
Instead of a well-organized, professional journey, the players had to go through nearly 19 hours of continuous travel, with a feeling of prolonged fatigue and widespread dissatisfaction, not to mention the unexpected "bomb" named Marc-Andre ter Stegen when they just arrived at El Prat.
According to AS , many key players of the Catalan team were dissatisfied with the way the club's management organized the repatriation schedule after the friendly match with Daegu FC. They said it was the way "a small team" worked when forcing the players to sit on the bus for nearly 4 hours at night, from Daegu to Seoul airport, right after the match took place in heavy rain.
The road trip ended at around 3am, followed by a 13-hour flight back to Spain, ending at 10:30am local time - a cross-time zone journey totalling nearly 19 hours of travel.
The fatigue was apparently not the worst of it. Immediately after landing, the Barcelona dressing room was shaken by the news that captain Ter Stegen had unexpectedly refused to sign the medical report - a document the club needed to submit to La Liga.
This unilateral action was described as "exploding internal harmony" and left many teammates surprised, especially when they had recently publicly sided with the German goalkeeper in the face of recent noise.

Ter Stegen's problem is not solved. |
Physically, the team is facing another “invisible enemy”: jet lag. Flying from Asia to Europe – an East-West route – is always considered more difficult to adapt to, as the human body has to reset its biological clock in a state of disarray.
The result is insomnia, fatigue, lack of vitality... which can last for up to a week, significantly affecting performance and training process.
Coach Hansi Flick tried to minimise the impact by giving the team a day off on Wednesday to recover. However, the rain had just stopped and the sun was shining. The next day, the players had to go through two consecutive training sessions - a brutal test of spirit and fitness, with unrest still simmering within the Catalan club.
