C08 Ministry of Public Security in coordination with local police discovered 4 barges filled with smuggled coal

Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on May 11, the working group of Department 10 (C08) coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of Hung Yen Provincial Police to inspect and arrest 2 pushboats, pushing 4 barges full of coal on the Red River, in the area of Phu Cuong commune ( Hung Yen city, Hung Yen province).

Through work, the working group determined that the pusher with license plate NB-6503 was pushing 2 barges with license plates NB-6407 and NB-6408 containing a total of 2,976 tons of coal. This ship was captained by Ha Van Quyet (32 years old, residing in Gia Lac commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province).

The tugboat with license plate NB-6506 pushed two barges with license plates NB-6404 and NB-6405 containing a total of 3,748 tons of coal. This ship was captained by Pham The Thang (29 years old, residing in Yen Loc commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province).

Through inspection, 4 barges containing more than 6,700 tons of coal had no invoices or documents.

At the time of inspection, the two captains and crew members present could not present invoices or documents proving the legal origin of the coal being transported.

The working group brought all the people on the two tugboats back for verification, and at the same time, the appraisal determined that the four barges above contained more than 6,700 tons of cargo, which was commercial coal.

The captains and crew members confessed that all of this coal was ordered by a man named Pham Thanh Long (residing in Thai Son commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province) to be taken from small boats in the Cat Ba sea area (Hai Phong) and transported to the Red River area, the section belonging to Hung Yen city, to anchor and find buyers, when they were discovered and arrested.
