Regarding the incident of a boy falling from Ton Duc Thang bridge into the river, on the evening of September 11, news from An Giang Provincial Police said that the unit had arrested Huynh Hong Hai (40 years old, commonly known as Ty, residing in Ho Chi Minh City), the suspect who threw the boy from the bridge into the river.
Currently, An Giang Provincial Police continue to question Hai to clarify why he threw the boy into the river, to handle according to regulations. The boy's mother has been taken to the police station to take care of him at home.

According to initial information, at around 11:05 a.m. the same day, Mr. Bui Ngoc Tho (62 years old) and his son Bui Huu Thanh (39 years old, both residing in Phuoc Long Ward, O Mon District, Can Tho City ) were driving a boat carrying rice on the Long Xuyen - Rach Gia River in the direction from My Khanh Commune to Hau River.
When passing Ton Duc Thang bridge (Binh Khanh ward, Long Xuyen city, An Giang), Mr. Tho heard a noise under the river, like something falling. At this time, Mr. Tho looked closely and discovered that the boy was struggling and sinking in the river, so he turned the boat around so that Mr. Thanh could jump in to rescue him. Fortunately, a few minutes later, Mr. Thanh was able to bring the boy, about 3-4 years old, to shore.
Authorities quickly verified that, according to information provided by local residents, at around 10:50 a.m., a man riding a motorbike without a helmet, carrying a baby, went up Ton Duc Thang Bridge. When he was near the middle of the bridge, this man suddenly threw the baby into the river and then got on his motorbike and left.
Through investigation and verification, by the afternoon of the same day, An Giang Provincial Police arrested Huynh Hong Hai, the suspect who threw the boy into the river.
