Vice Chairman of a Town in Hanoi Arrested for Producing Fake Medical Alcohol

The Vice Chairman of Chuc Son town, Chuong My district, and his younger brother established a company to produce alcohol using Methanol instead of Ethanol, endangering the health of users.

According to information from Hanoi City Police, Team 2 of the Economic Police Department has arrested Pham Dinh Tuan (Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chuc Son town, Chuong My district) to investigate the act of producing counterfeit medical alcohol.

Accordingly, Tuan and his younger brother together established the Ngân Hà Company to produce 70-degree medical alcohol. However, for profit, Tuan directed his employees to produce alcohol using Methanol instead of Ethanol (in the ratio of 30% water to 70% alcohol), thereby endangering the health of users.

To date, the police have seized about 50,000 bottles of fake medical alcohol and sealed machinery and tools related to the production line.

The case is being investigated and clarified by the Economic Police Department of Hanoi City Police.
