Ms. Harris' campaign attracted the attention of many voters due to the presence of many top celebrities.
On September 19, Democratic presidential candidate and US Vice President Kamala Harris held a special campaign rally in Michigan. The event was attended by many top celebrities, including TV legend Oprah Winfrey as host. Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Rock and Ben Stiller also participated in the “Unite for America” event via live remote broadcast to support Ms. Harris.

Sitting on stage in a conversational style, Ms. Winfrey asked Ms. Harris how she felt about becoming the Democratic candidate, replacing incumbent President Joe Biden. Ms. Harris shared that in life, everyone has a moment to move forward, and called on Americans to unite to avoid efforts to divide. Ms. Harris also reiterated some of the main points of her campaign, from abortion law to the economy , immigration and gun control. The audience also had the opportunity to share stories related to the mentioned topics. According to analysts, Vice President Kamala Harris has taken advantage of the appeal of Ms. Oprah Winfrey - one of her most powerful representatives and one of the top interviewers in the US - to proactively face urgent issues.

The special event drew hundreds of thousands of viewers, reinforcing a strategy that Harris's campaign sees as crucial to reaching voters in battleground states and elsewhere in November, the New York Times reported. The US presidential election is now in a fierce phase, with just over 40 days until voting. Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, are in a tight race. A recent New York Times/Siena poll showed that while Harris leads in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, the two candidates appear to be "evenly matched" nationally. Both candidates are actively seeking support from unions. In a setback for Harris, the Teamsters union on September 18 "turned its back" on the Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in 25 years. However, several local Teamsters chapters, representing 1 million members, said they still supported Ms. Harris's campaign.
