Bayern determined to pursue Diaz. |
Bild reports that Bayern Munich have identified Diaz as their top target for the left winger position, after failing to pursue other targets such as Nico Williams and Xavi Simons. Kompany is actively looking for a winger to strengthen his firepower for the 2025/26 season, especially after losing Leroy Sané on a free transfer and failing to sign Florian Wirtz (who joined Liverpool).
Bayern value Diaz's speed, technique, and ability to create chances on the left wing. However, the German club's deal faces a major obstacle: Liverpool's high transfer fee.
The Premier League club value the Colombian at €100m and have no intention of selling him. Bayern made a €67.5m (£58.6m) bid for the Liverpool winger in mid-month, but Liverpool rejected the offer immediately.
However, with the successful recruitment of Hugo Ekitike, "The Kop" is ready to listen to further offers. According to The Guardian , Diaz informed Liverpool's board that he wants to leave this summer. Diaz's contract with Liverpool is valid until 2027, but the player shows no signs of extending.
The Colombian star is unhappy with his current salary (estimated at £55,000/week, much lower than Darwin Núñez or Mohamed Salah). Bayern are said to have reached a personal agreement with Diaz, offering a contract until 2029 with an option to extend until 2030 and a significant salary increase for the player.
However, Liverpool are still in a strong position in negotiations. Bayern's desire to sign Diaz in July to stabilize the squad will force them to meet Liverpool's financial demands or give up on their target.
If Bayern are determined to pursue Diaz, they will need to raise their offer significantly, possibly reaching 80-100 million euros, a figure that is difficult to achieve given the financial situation of German clubs.
