Closing of the 5th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the World Heritage Cities Organization

Andong City (South Korea) will be the host of the 6th OWHC-AP Conference in 2027.

Speaking at the closing session, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh affirmed that with the theme "Improving the quality of life for the sustainable development of World Heritage Cities", the conference has achieved many substantive results, creating a foundation for new cooperation programs in the work of preserving and promoting heritage values associated with improving the livability of urban areas.

During the conference, delegates from 7 countries shared many experiences and typical models on heritage conservation, technology application, sustainable urban development, as well as strengthening the role of the community. Discussion sessions and thematic workshops affirmed that OWHC-AP continues to be an effective bridge of cooperation between heritage cities in the region.

On behalf of the government and people of Hue city, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his deep gratitude to the Regional Secretariat, member cities and international delegates who accompanied and contributed to the success of the conference. He emphasized that Hue, as the first World Heritage City of Vietnam, will continue to adhere to the goal of "preserving the past to nurture the future; developing today so that the heritage will live forever".

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced that Andong City (South Korea) will be the host of the 6th OWHC-AP Conference in 2027. Hue congratulated Andong and expressed his belief that the upcoming conference will continue to spread the spirit of cooperation, preserving and promoting heritage values in the region.
