On June 11, Dr. Do Quoc Phong, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Medicine Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, E Hospital, said: Doctors have just saved the life of a 12-year-old boy who suffered severe trauma after a collision with a tricycle. The patient was in critical condition, with multiple trauma shock, severe hemorrhagic shock, and many areas of his body were swollen and bruised...
Determining this to be a case of multiple injuries due to a serious accident, an emergency team was "on red alert" to urgently treat the child patient.

The results of injury screening showed that the boy suffered from severe multiple trauma shock with abdominal wall contusions, intra-abdominal bleeding, retroperitoneal hematoma, grade II bladder rupture; left pelvis fracture, multiple bleeding foci, injury to the anus, contusions and muscle injuries in the thighs on both sides, legs, perineal edema...
According to the family, the accident happened when the child was on his way home from extra classes. A three-wheeled vehicle carrying cement traveling in the same direction collided and ran over the child. Luckily, the child was quickly taken to the E Hospital in Hanoi by local residents.
In the first 24 hours after admission, doctors transfused nearly 4 liters of blood to sustain the patient's life; at the same time, they quickly performed surgeries to treat injuries to the lungs, bladder, abdomen, etc.
After 4 days of treatment, the patient's health is now stable. He continues to monitor and treat injuries and undergo rehabilitation exercises in bed.
According to Dr. Phong, in the case of a child with complex multiple trauma shock, quick, accurate, and timely initial treatment is very important. Because the patient suffered from pelvic trauma, thigh muscle contusion, closed abdominal trauma, etc., which are very complex injuries, if the patient is not properly immobilized during emergency transport, the injuries may become more serious. Fortunately, the boy was taken to the emergency room quickly, avoiding making the injury worse and endangering his life. The patient was promptly treated in the shortest time after the "red alert" at the hospital.
Dr. Phong warned, "Authorities need to manage and strictly handle cases of three-wheeled vehicles that do not ensure safety when traveling on the road, causing danger to road users. Because this is not the first case of tragic traffic accidents caused by three-wheeled vehicles carrying bulky or overloaded goods. Especially at this time when children start their summer vacation, the hidden dangers from three-wheeled vehicles are always lurking."
Dr. Phong also noted that when people encounter injuries at the scene, if they have experience in handling them, they should quickly provide first aid to the victim. At the same time, they should immediately contact the 115 Emergency Center or the hotline number of the Emergency System of the E Hospital to promptly take the victim to the nearest medical facility.
