Baby Carter Dallas and family at Mount Everest base camp

Baby Carter Dallas, from Glasgow (Scotland), was carried by his father to the base camp of Mount Everest on October 25, 2023.

Previously, the youngest person to reach this place was a 4-year-old Czech child, the New York Post reported on January 29.

Carter's father, Ross Dallas, 35, said he and his wife Jade only brought a few sweaters and sleeping bags for the trip "across" Mount Everest on what was expected to be a year-long journey across Asia.

“Within 24 hours of landing in Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal), we were off,” the father said. The couple wore only regular sneakers as they climbed to base camp.

"Baby Carter is adapting better than my wife and I," said Mr. Dallas, adding that he and his wife both suffered from mild altitude sickness, but their son was fine.

Since August 2023, the Dallas family has rented out their home in Scotland and traveled to Asia. So far, they have visited India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Malaysia.

The family is currently in Thailand, and the next destination is Cambodia.
