Ho Chi Minh City: A 13-month-old boy died after 7 months of treatment at the City Children's Hospital due to a brain hemorrhage after being abused by his nanny, Vo Thi My Linh.

Dr. Truong Quang Dinh, Director of the Hospital, said the child died on the afternoon of August 25. The child had surgery for a brain hemorrhage on January 10 and was treated intensively, but his condition was still critical, in a deep coma, with almost complete brain damage.

The baby boy was looked after by nanny Vo Thi My Linh (30 years old) in an apartment building at a monthly cost of 3 million VND. At noon on January 10, the 6-month-old baby boy kept crying while his diaper was being changed, causing Linh to angrily hit the baby on the head 2 or 3 times with the palm of her hand (near the wrist). A moment later, while feeding him milk, the nanny repeated the action when the baby boy spit it out. The victim cried loudly, turned purple and showed signs of fainting. Linh panicked and called the baby boy's mother, lying that the baby had fallen off the hammock.

Receiving the boy, Children's Hospital 3, Ho Chi Minh City determined that he had suffered a brain contusion and urgently performed surgery. The Ho Chi Minh City Forensic Center assessed that the victim had lost 99% of his health and had a poor prognosis.

On January 15, Linh was urgently arrested by Binh Tan District Police for murder.
