After finishing the 2024/25 Premier League season in 15th place, MU quickly set off for their summer tour. Despite a 3-1 victory over Hong Kong (China), the "Red Devils" had a very bad start with a 0-1 loss to the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.
Fans reacted strongly, even booing the team as they left the pitch. But that wasn’t the worst of it. Youngster Alejandro Garnacho was accused of pushing a fan, while Amad Diallo caused controversy when he was photographed giving the middle finger to fans.
David Beckham told CBS Sports : "This is a difficult time. I don't want to see things like this happen at the club. On the pitch is the most important thing, but honestly I see a lot of things that are not right from the perspective of a fan and a lover of MU".
"Playing for MU means representing the badge on your chest. I used to play in a team that knew how to behave and understood the meaning of this shirt. Wherever we go, Europe or Asia, we respect the fans. They come to watch, spend money and want to take pictures and get autographs. That's something you have to cherish," Beckham added.
It is clear that MU is in decline in terms of image and spirit, so it must quickly correct its mistakes to regain the trust of its fans. This summer transfer window promises to be full of changes with many departures of players with poor performance.
