Cuba deeply thanks Vietnam for its "understanding and continuous support"

On the morning of July 23, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Gerardo Peñalver Portal on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam and the 8th Political Consultation Session and preparations for high-level delegation exchanges between the two countries in the coming time.

At the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son conveyed the regards of the high-ranking leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to the high-ranking leaders of the Party and State of Cuba; affirmed the solidarity of the Party, State and people of Vietnam with the Party, State and people of Cuba in the face of current difficulties and challenges; and emphasized that in the face of difficulties and challenges, the two countries need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight at the fact that the fraternal solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba are constantly being consolidated and developed, in which high-level agreements are being actively implemented and achieving concrete results, especially in the fields of agriculture, biotechnology and renewable energy.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to closely coordinate to carefully prepare for delegation exchange activities in the coming time; promote the implementation of high-level commitments and key cooperation projects of the two countries; maintain and improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, consultations, and experience exchange on all Party, State, local cooperation and people-to-people channels, and firstly, prepare well for the 42nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee between the two countries in August 2025.

The Deputy Prime Minister also asked Cuba to continue to coordinate in removing difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cuba.

The Deputy Prime Minister hoped that the two sides would coordinate in organizing activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025); and affirmed Vietnam's readiness to share experiences in nearly 40 years of renovation.

The Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their understanding and continuous support for Cuba in recent years; affirmed that Cuba always values and wishes to further deepen the special traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister also expressed solidarity and condolences to the Vietnamese people over the recent tourist boat capsize in Ha Long Bay as well as the damage caused by storm No. 3.
