Anchored off the coast of Tahiti (French Polynesia) is the Aranui 5 yacht, home to the surfing teams. The ship is about 45 minutes away from the Teahupo'o competition site.
Dubbed the “first floating Olympic Village,” the Aranui 5 can accommodate around 230 passengers in over 100 rooms. In addition, the ship also owns many high-end entertainment services such as an outdoor bar, ballroom, library, gym and spa.
Many athletes took to social media to share their experiences inside the "Floating Olympic Village", describing it as a "party yacht" and "better than Paris", according to the New York Post.

Sharing his thoughts on the inside of the ship, Japanese surfer Kanoa Igarashi expressed his delight at the fact that everyone can freely use the dining room because it is open 24/7. In addition, there are many other convenient services such as a gift shop, tattoo parlor, private bedrooms, and a table tennis area for athletes to relax.
“I think this athletes village is better than the Olympic Village in Paris,” Igarashi said in the video .
German surfer Tim Elter shows off the yacht's amenities in a video review of his room. He says he doesn't have to use a cardboard bed.
“We actually have aluminum bed frames, as you can see there. They're sturdy and stable," Tim Elter said, tapping the bed frame.
