(CPV) - After 60 years of construction and development, Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital has affirmed its prestige and position both domestically and internationally. The team of cadres, doctors, nurses, employees and soldiers of the Hospital have always strived, regardless of hardships and sacrifices, to fulfill the task of protecting, caring for and improving the health of cadres, soldiers and people.
On November 29 in Hanoi, Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital (Military Medical Academy) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hospital's traditional day (December 1, 1964 - December 1, 2024) and received the Second Class Labor Medal. Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense attended and delivered a speech.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Nhu Lam, Director of Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital stated: Born during the arduous and fierce war against American imperialism, stemming from the reality of the war, from the battlefields, requiring a specialized field of burns to treat wounded soldiers and people burned by destructive weapons of American imperialism, on December 1, 1964, the first Burn Department in the country was established on the basis of the Field Department of Military Hospital 103. The staff at that time consisted of 18 people, including 03 doctors, 02 medics, 09 nurses and 04 civil servants. The mission of the Burn Department is to treat, train and conduct scientific research on burns, especially war burns.
The country was unified and peace was restored due to the need for burn treatment from soldiers and people. On April 25, 1991, on the basis of the Burn Department, Military Hospital 103, the Government decided to establish Le Huu Trac Burn Institute, Military Medical Academy, managed by the Army. It is the leading hospital, the last line of the country in the field of Burns, operating on the basis of the combined Military - Civilian medical model.

Major General Nguyen Nhu Lam said that since its establishment, on average, each year the Burn Hospital has admitted, provided emergency care and treated 7,000 - 9,000 patients with burns and burn sequelae, rehabilitation, acute and chronic wounds. In the past five years, the number of patients coming to the Hospital has tended to increase, including many foreign patients such as China, Russia... Most of the patients treated at the Burn Hospital are patients with moderate, severe and very severe burns, burns with many complicated complications, special burns such as respiratory and digestive burns and mass burns due to fire and explosion disasters.
With many advanced and modern techniques applied for many years, especially microsurgery, the Hospital has successfully deployed the technique of creating large skin flaps with microsurgical vascular anastomosis; the technique of creating super-thin skin flaps; the technique of converting toes into fingers; treating the loss of the entire scalp due to work accidents; connecting lymphatic vessels and veins using super-microsurgery techniques to treat lymphedema of the upper limbs after breast cancer treatment, thanks to which many patients have been restored to maximum function, aesthetics and psychology after burns...
The Burn Hospital has successfully combined modern science with traditional medicine, focusing on local skin substitutes and drugs. In addition, in recent years, the Hospital has done a good job of directing the line nationwide, working with medical facilities to gradually build a specialized burn treatment system in provincial and municipal hospitals.
Together with the Departments in the Military Medical Academy, over the years, the Department of Burns and Disaster Medicine; Department of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery has participated in training thousands of long-term students, hundreds of Nursing Bachelors; training hundreds of preliminary burn specialists, level 1 specialists, level 2 specialists, Masters, PhDs in burns and plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Training hundreds of nurses from lower-level hospitals sent to study burn specialties.
With its achievements over the past 60 years, the Burn Hospital has been awarded noble titles by the Party and State: Twice Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 1989 and 2007; First-class Independence Medal in 2011; Two Third-class Military Exploit Medals in 1985 and 2009; 5 First, Second and Third-class Military Exploit Medals in 1979, 1981, 1996 and 2002; 2 First and Second-class Labor Medals in 2004 and 2014; First-class Labor Medal in 2019, Third-class Labor Medal in 2021 and many other noble awards...

Promoting the achievements, making constant efforts and continuing to conquer challenges and limitations in burn treatment, each officer, employee and soldier of Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital must always keep the passion for the profession, have the spirit of exploration, research, acceptance of new things, mastering high-tech, specialized and modern science and technology, valuing the continuity between generations, training, scientific research, and nurturing the next generation of young doctors of the country's health sector.

Hospitals need to focus on building training programs based on capacity and output standards, applying advanced and effective teaching and learning methods, maintaining their brand, and always being a trusted address in training human resources for the health sector.
In addition, focus on building a strong, clean and exemplary Party organization, the core of which is to build a contingent of cadres and Party members with strong political will, a spirit of solidarity and unity, absolute trust in the Party's leadership, and good expertise, foreign languages and information technology. Continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XII, XIII) in conjunction with Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.
