Accordingly, after 1 day of birth at the hospital, the baby of Ms. Vo Thi Kieu M. (Suoi Hiep commune) was discovered to have congenital esophageal atresia. The baby could not breastfeed, had severe respiratory failure and was scheduled for early surgery to have a chance to live. However, because the baby was too small and his health was not guaranteed, he was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Pediatrics Department to be put on a ventilator and kept alive by intravenous feeding. Through screening, the team of doctors discovered that, in addition to esophageal atresia, the baby also had a catheter inserted into the lungs, causing severe pneumonia and mild heart failure.
