Thanks to that, up to now, according to the reported data of Can Tho City Hematology & Blood Transfusion Hospital and blood transfusion centers, the total amount of blood coordinated by the Ministry of Health to support Can Tho City Hematology & Blood Transfusion Hospital to provide to 74 hospitals in the Mekong Delta region from June 2023 to present is nearly 65,000 units of blood.
This valuable support has met the basic needs for emergency care and treatment of patients in the area.
However, by October 30, 2023, the procurement of supplies, blood bags, and blood screening reagents of Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital was still not enough for the Hospital to receive and supply blood to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment.

Review the center's blood supply; adjust and balance partial support for Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital within the next 2 weeks (up to 1 month if Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital still cannot fully ensure its own blood supply).
Coordinate with the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and social organizations in mobilizing blood donations, ensuring blood supply and blood products, and preparing for blood needs in other localities in the coming time.
For the Can Tho City Department of Health, Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital, the Ministry of Health requests to proactively contact the National Blood Center, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Hematology and Blood Transfusion centers to ensure the supply of blood and blood products for Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces.
The Ministry of Health also requested the Can Tho City Department of Health and the Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital to seriously learn from their failure to ensure blood supply, affecting medical examination and treatment activities and the overall reputation of the industry.
These two units urgently report to the People's Committee of Can Tho City to organize bidding and purchase sufficient supplies, chemicals, biological products, and blood bags to serve blood transfusion work; report the results and progress of the procurement to the Ministry of Health.
In case the purchase is still not possible, the Department of Health is requested to find every way to mobilize local and social resources to have supplies, blood bags, etc. to serve the blood supply work.
The Ministry of Health also requested the People's Committee of Can Tho City to continue to resolutely direct the Departments and branches; support the Department of Health and hospitals in purchasing or directly organize the implementation if the Department of Health cannot meet the procurement of supplies, blood bags, and biological products for blood screening in November 2023.
The Ministry of Health requests that units urgently coordinate to achieve the goal of ensuring adequate supply of blood and blood products for patients in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region as soon as possible.
