Secretary Nguyen Van Nen: There are officials who "don't know their lessons" and don't play their roles properly and need to be adjusted!

On the morning of September 19, the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council opened its 11th session (special session).

Attending the meeting, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen gave a speech.

The 11th session (special session) of the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council opened on the morning of September 19.

The City Party Secretary said that this session will review and approve more than 100 reports on specific mechanisms and policies according to Resolution 98 and the city's socio -economic fields.

"This is a meeting with an unprecedented amount of work for the City People's Council" - Mr. Nguyen Van Nen assessed and said that with careful and urgent preparation, the committees and delegates of the City People's Council have implemented the spirit of the Prime Minister , the City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee in concretizing Resolution 98.

According to Secretary Nguyen Van Nen, nearly 3 months after Resolution 98 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City was approved by the National Assembly, preparations from the Government to the locality have been urgently carried out. As soon as the National Assembly Chairman signed the resolution, the Government established a steering committee to implement it, prepare the content, regulations and working procedures. This is an unprecedented act.

Ho Chi Minh City also prepared all the work early to start implementation. The locality has a steering committee, executive board, advisory council, and support team to implement Resolution 98.

"The ship named Resolution 98 has traveled a distance, the first shipment has been loaded on board. Today, the City People's Council has one day to decide on hundreds of specific projects and works" - the City Party Secretary acknowledged.

The City Party Secretary added: "Currently, all the work for Resolution 98 is ready, like a ship loaded with goods and ready to accelerate. The ship's staff has been working hard day and night, today, the final appraisal council, the City People's Council, stamped the departure."

He emphasized: "We are still on the old ship, with the same staff but with a new attitude and spirit. The ship also has a new gearbox, new engine, and the rails are also more open than before."

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also said that in meetings, inspections and supervisions, each participant has a mission, a duty, and some people take on 2-3 roles.

"I discovered that there were comrades who sometimes did not know their lesson, were not in the right role, and had to be adjusted. Bringing their briefcases to meetings and being asked about their own affairs and saying they did not know is not knowing their lesson" - Mr. Nguyen Van Nen stated the current situation.

He emphasized that if each person in the apparatus wants to complete their tasks and affirm their role and position, the simplest way is to play the right role and "know their lesson". Therefore, the Secretary of the City Party Committee requested that each person must do their role correctly and well, with the common responsibility of acting in the same direction.

Supervision work contributes to pushing back negativity, hesitation, and avoidance in the apparatus.

Referring to the supervision activities as the basic functions and tasks of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, the Secretary of the City Party Committee highly appreciated the supervision work in the area in recent times when it has increasingly focused on the core, had timely conclusions, served political requirements, and gradually improved the substance, effectiveness and efficiency to better serve the people.

"The People's Council is a trusted representative body of the city's people. The supervision is increasingly strict, pushing back and preventing negativity, hesitation, indecision and avoidance in the apparatus, especially the administrative apparatus at all levels" - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee acknowledged.
