On the afternoon of August 1, Mr. Duong Van An - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee received a delegation from the British Consulate General led by Mr. Graham Stuart, Minister of State in charge of Energy Security and Carbon Neutrality, who came to visit and learn about the environment and investment opportunities in Binh Thuan .
At the reception of the British Consulate General delegation, Provincial Party Secretary Duong Van An thanked Mr. Graham Stuart for his visit and paid a courtesy call to Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee. At the same time, he introduced the province's potential and advantages in developing renewable energy, especially offshore wind power. The Provincial Party Secretary said that the province is orienting its development towards three economic pillars: agriculture, tourism and industry, in which in terms of industry, energy development plays a leading role. Up to now, Binh Thuan has 47 power plants in operation generating electricity with a total capacity of more than 6,523 MW. In addition to thermal power, hydropower, wind power, solar power projects, there will be gas power in the near future and many investors wish to invest in offshore wind power. Among them, there is the Thang Long Wind wind power project offshore Ke Ga that Enterprize Energy Group is researching and surveying. However, there are many issues related to ensuring the appropriate transmission of renewable energy, storing renewable energy with new technology… are issues that are being raised. With experience in this field, the UK can support, help to address concerns and facilitate learning in the process of energy development.
The Provincial Party Secretary also emphasized that Binh Thuan's criteria is to attract environmentally friendly renewable energy projects. Therefore, the province prioritizes the development of renewable energy projects, including offshore wind power projects. The province also sets the goal of building Binh Thuan into an attractive destination for investors, a place with a green - clean - beautiful environment and a livable place. The Provincial Party Secretary also hopes that through Mr. Graham Stuart - Minister of State in charge of Energy Security and Carbon Neutrality and relevant agencies of the United Kingdom, Binh Thuan will, in addition to developing wind power, become the first province in Vietnam to produce green hydrogen energy. Along with that, it is a bridge to promote businesses to invest in factories producing renewable energy auxiliary equipment in the province.
Mr. Graham Stuart - Minister of State in charge of Energy Security and Carbon Neutrality thanked the warm welcome and affirmed the cooperative relationship between the two countries. Binh Thuan is a province with a relatively fast growth rate, the development potential is a great opportunity to attract investors. The Minister of State in charge of Energy Security also affirmed that he will be a bridge for large enterprises and corporations to come to learn about and implement energy projects, especially offshore wind power. At the same time, he will resolve difficulties and obstacles to create favorable conditions to promote investment, contributing to making Binh Thuan a renewable energy center not only in Vietnam but also in the region.
