Over the past period, closely following the provincial directives and the district's plans and guidelines, Rung Thong town has seriously implemented the policy of merging Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa City and establishing wards within Thanh Hoa City.

To date, in Rung Thong town, all 9/9 neighborhoods have held Party branch meetings and expanded Front Committee meetings in residential areas. All proposals, plans, and voter lists have been publicly posted at community centers and announced daily through the public address system as scheduled.
Based on public opinion, party members and the people generally agree to merge Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa city and establish Rung Thong ward.

At the conference, Mr. Le Huy Cau and Mr. Le Ba Bon, representatives of voters from Ham Ha neighborhood, expressed their strong agreement and affirmed that the merger of Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa City is a major and correct policy of the Party and State, in line with the inevitable trend of development. The merger will facilitate Thanh Hoa City's construction and development to become a Type I urban center – the political , administrative, economic, cultural, social, and scientific-technical center of the province, transforming it into a smart, civilized city with its own identity, a center for finance, commerce, tourism, science and technology, high-tech industries, healthcare, culture, sports, and education and training for the North Central and South Northern regions; contributing to building and developing Thanh Hoa into a model province as President Ho Chi Minh always wished.

During its development, especially in recent years, Dong Son district has been one of the leading districts in the province. Several localities within the district have met the criteria to be upgraded to wards, such as Rung Thong town and Dong Thinh commune. Therefore, merging Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa City and establishing Rung Thong ward and Dong Thinh ward is an inevitable trend for future development.

The incorporation of Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa City has preserved the traditions, history, and culture that the people of Dong Son have maintained and developed for generations. The name Dong Son remains in daily life, reflected in the structures bearing Dong Son's name and in the lifestyle and cultural institutions of the people after its integration into Thanh Hoa City.
On behalf of the provincial leadership, the Provincial Party Secretary thanked the voters and people of the province for their strong support and agreement in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and the province's policies.
He expressed confidence that, with the support of officials, Party members, and the people in the province, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee will successfully implement Resolution 37 of the Politburo and Resolution 35 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the period 2023-2030.
