Nghe An and Sa Van Na Khet are two provinces with a long-standing traditional relationship. Over the years, the two localities have regularly maintained visits, information exchanges, and congratulatory messages on holidays, New Year, and important historical events of the two countries and two provinces through diplomatic channels.
In 2022, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, Nghe An province welcomed the Deputy Secretary and Deputy Governor of Savannakhet province to attend the celebration; on the occasion of the recent Lao traditional New Year Bun Pi May, Nghe An province sent the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council to celebrate the New Year.
Education is one of the fields that the two provinces have been promoting most effectively. In the 2023-2024 school year, Nghe An province has been training a total of 30 cadres, students and pupils from Sa Van Na Khet province.
On behalf of the delegation, Comrade Bunchom Ubonpashot - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary, Provincial Governor expressed his joy at visiting and wishing Nghe An province a Happy New Year.
He highly appreciated the cooperation between the two provinces and thanked Nghe An province for its support, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as its support in the field of education and training.
The Secretary and Governor of Savannakhet province informed about some key features of the socio-economic situation in 2023, especially the provincial economy continuing to recover after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and is currently preparing activities for Visit Laos Year 2024.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, Comrade Bun-chom U-bon-pa-sot wished Nghe An province to develop more and more, the cooperative and friendly relationship between the two Parties, the two countries and the two peoples in general, and Savannakhet and Nghe An provinces in particular to develop more and more, forever green, forever sustainable.

Comrade Thai Thanh Quy congratulated the extremely important achievements in the fields of politics, socio-economy, national defense - security, foreign affairs and international cooperation of Savannakhet province, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Party Committee, the Government and the efforts of the ethnic people in the province; at the same time, informed some basic features of socio-economy, national defense and security in the past year; and the development orientation of Nghe An province in the coming time.
Emphasizing that the good traditional friendship between Nghe An and Savannakhet does not only stop at the two provinces but also contributes to tightening the solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Vietnam and Laos, the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee believes that cooperation between the two sides will increasingly develop comprehensively, especially in activities such as education and training, healthcare, tourism...
The Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee wished the Party Committee, Government and People of Sa Van Na Khet province to continue to reap greater victories in the cause of building and developing the homeland and country.
