Ms. Tran Thuy Trang (39 years old, from Lao Cai ) lives in Japan, famous online with the nickname Trang Miu Japan. She often shares her experiences and memories in life in a humorous way.

This past summer, she and her husband took their daughter to visit her grandparents in Pakistan. During the trip, she had the opportunity to try pho prepared by a Pakistani chef.

Ms. Trang said: “During our time in Pakistan, my whole family visited the capital Islamabad. Before that, we had many days of eating local food so we really wanted to change our taste.

I tried searching online for a restaurant serving Vietnamese food in Islamabad and was recommended Pho restaurant.

Immediately after that, Trang's family eagerly moved to the restaurant. Pho restaurant is located in a rather large restaurant complex. This restaurant includes many small restaurants, serving dishes from many countries.

“The Pho menu introduces the Vietnamese flavor of pho in great detail. However, when I walked through the kitchen area, I only saw Pakistani chefs. This made me quite hesitant.

So I decided to order a portion of pho to try, if it was delicious I would order more for my relatives," Trang shared.

When the waiter brought out the pho, Trang went from excitement to utter surprise. The pho was served in a small bowl. Diners had to use a fork and spoon to eat it.

Ms. Trang described the pho broth as thick, cloudy, and lacking the sweetness of stewed bones. The restaurant uses noodles instead of pho noodles, served with vegetables and beef.

“This is not pho, it is vegetable soup. The soup has broccoli, mustard greens, bell peppers, tomatoes…

It doesn't taste like pho, it smells very strange, with a strong bell pepper flavor. I think the restaurant should introduce this as Pakistani pho," Trang humorously said.

After her daughter frowned and refused, Ms. Trang tried to pick up vegetables and noodles to eat.

A small bowl of pho with few noodles costs up to 799 Rupees (about 75,000 VND, including tax). This price makes Ms. Trang unhappy.

She left but still hoped that if anyone knew of a good Vietnamese restaurant in Pakistan, they would recommend it to her family. Because her whole family missed the delicious taste of Vietnamese pho.
