(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Thanh Hoa is a locality with diverse agricultural products and rural industries, so when implementing the OCOP program, districts, towns and cities in the province have developed specialty products bearing the name of the land and village. Up to now, the whole province has 645 products certified to meet OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher. Through the orientation and support of the province and departments, branches and localities, Thanh Hoa's OCOP products have spread their brands and gradually reached the market.

OCOP products and potential OCOP products will be displayed at the OCOP market held in Sam Son City in July 2024.

Although Thanh Hoa has developed a widespread OCOP product system in 26/26 districts, towns and cities in the province, not all products are favorable for market development. Therefore, many entities are struggling to bring their products to the market. Director of Yen Lac Agricultural Service Cooperative (Nhu Thanh) Pham Cong Bao said: "Although Yen Lac cassava vermicelli products are assessed to be of good quality, suitable for consumer tastes. However, due to the limited production capacity of the cooperative and insufficient raw materials for large-scale production, the products are mainly produced seasonally. In addition, the cooperative's management team does not have enough management skills and the ability to apply digital technology to access modern markets, so the products are mainly consumed in the province through familiar sources, and have not yet "reached" new markets".

In reality, many OCOP products "made in Thanh Hoa" despite having good quality and being well received by the market, have not yet been able to reach the market. The reason given by the industry is that most of the OCOP product producers have small-scale production capacity, limited management skills and knowledge, and have difficulty adapting to the market mechanism. Many producers have not applied science and technology to the production process, mainly semi-manual and manual production. Along with that, there is no creativity to create new OCOP products, many products are highly similar, packaging and designs lack creativity, and have not attracted customers...

Understanding these limitations, relevant departments, branches and units of the province have organized and coordinated to participate in many conferences connecting supply and demand, promoting products so that OCOP products have more opportunities to connect and exchange with potential partners. At the same time, supporting the construction of display points, introducing OCOP products to become an intermediary step, contributing to finding reputable product consumption units in the national market through different channels such as retail, online, stores, supermarkets... bringing in quite high revenue.

In addition, to contribute to supporting OCOP products in the consumer market, since 2020, Thanh Hoa province has researched and applied mechanisms to support the opening of stores to display and sell OCOP products. Up to now, the whole province has had 22 OCOP product display and sales points established with investment and support from the state and dozens of individual sales points.

We are present at the display and introduction point of Thanh OCOP products in Dong Tho ward (Thanh Hoa city). This is the largest OCOP product display and sales store in the province, established in early 2024, with an area of ​​over 100m2, the shelves are filled with more than 500 OCOP products from many industries, from fresh agricultural products, seafood, processed products to handicrafts from regions in the province. The store is both a display space and a connection center between typical products, OCOP products of localities in and outside the province with consumers. Ms. Dao Thi Luong, in charge of the display and introduction of OCOP products in Thanh Hoa, said: “The store is one of the important solutions to promote the consumption of OCOP products, helping OCOP products become widely known. At the same time, we support the province's producers to find stable output for their products and connect and promote OCOP products to reach out to other provinces and cities in the country, even export, thereby bringing higher economic benefits to producers”.

In order to accompany the OCOP product development movement in rural areas, especially supporting producers in building brands and developing markets for OCOP products, departments, branches and localities in the province have implemented many practical solutions, such as organizing training for OCOP producers on online sales and skills in using e-commerce platforms to consume products. Currently, about 400 OCOP products of Thanh Hoa are available on e-commerce platforms voso.vn, posmart.vn, lazada, shopee, tiki. By putting products on e-commerce platforms, it has contributed to promoting the consumption of agricultural products and safe food in the province and helping businesses and cooperatives increase their average sales by 15 - 20% per year.

In addition, organized trade promotion programs are also a bridge to bring OCOP products closer to consumers, helping products spread more widely, not only protecting the brand of local specialties, but also contributing to sustainable economic development for localities in the province.
