According to video posted on social media, police on horseback and water cannons can be seen trying to disperse the crowd that refused to leave, leading to violent clashes at Democracy Square in Tel Aviv.

At another protest, police said they arrested two people “for disorderly conduct” after they allegedly “lit fires and started rioting, failing to obey police directions.”
The clashes followed anti-government protests in several cities across Israel, calling for the release of hostages held in Gaza and a general election.
Many protesters on the streets of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Rehovot and elsewhere on Saturday targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, criticizing his handling of the fight against Hamas.
The families of the hostages have also continued to hold a protest calling for the immediate resumption of talks with Hamas to “push forward a deal to bring them all back”.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office (PMO) believes 125 hostages are still being held in Gaza, after a deal last November freed more than 100. The PMO believes at least 37 hostages still in Gaza have died.
