Billiards: Tran Quyet Chien aims to conquer the world championship

From now until the end of December, Vietnam's number 1 player Tran Quyet Chien still has 4 more opportunities to affirm his talent and seek the first international tournament championship title in 2025.

What about international tournaments?

The 2025 World Cup will have 7 stages. Up to now, Tran Quyet Chien and the Vietnamese players have competed in 4 World Cup stages, respectively in Bogota (Colombia in March), Ho Chi Minh City (May), Ankara (Turkey, June) and Porto (Portugal, July). Most recently, Quyet Chien competed in the 2025 World Games (held in Chengdu, China). Vietnam's No. 1 player was very close to his first World Games medal, but the unfortunate situation when the cue ball went into the hole in the final point in the semi-final match against Cho Myung-woo was too cruel. Tran Quyet Chien missed the World Games medal again and he felt extremely regretful.

In 2024, Tran Quyet Chien had a favorable start with the championship at the first World Cup billiards stage, Bogota - Colombia. But more than half of the matches have passed in 2025, the player from Ha Tinh has not been able to step onto the highest podium. His best achievement since the beginning of 2025 until now is the runner-up position at the World Cup billiards Ankara 2025, after losing to Eddy Merckx in the final match.

Tran Quyet Chien seeks first World Championship title in his career

However, Tran Quyet Chien still has 3 more important tournaments from now until the end of the year, including 3 World Cup billiards stages (in Belgium, Korea, Egypt), the 2025 World Championship. These are opportunities for Tran Quyet Chien to seek his first championship title this year. Tran Quyet Chien shared: "My important goal for the rest of 2025 is to seek my first World Championship title in my career. To do this, I need to practice more to continuously improve my skills and maintain stable performance."

Tran Quyet Chien's best achievement at the World Championship (the most prestigious tournament of the World Carom Billiards Federation - UMB) was a silver medal in 2023. At that time, Tran Quyet Chien lost to his junior Bao Phuong Vinh in the final match.

Tran Quyet Chien has more teammates

Recently, Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh and billiards commentator Minh Dien have had more teammates. Accordingly, 13 famous players in the Vietnamese 3-cushion carom village such as Nguyen Duc Anh Chien, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Dinh Luan, Cao Phan Triet Luan, Dinh The Vinh, Le Thanh Tien, Le Van Thai, Mai Tan Huyen, Nguyen Chi Long, Nguyen Dinh Quoc, Nguyen Huu Thanh, Quynh Ngan, and Tran Van Ngan have just joined and become the representative faces of 9Scoreboard (smart electronic billiards scoreboard system).
