Research and development of technical solutions for high-speed railways
The general objective of this program is to build a scientific basis to determine basic technical criteria for high-speed railway infrastructure in Vietnam, research and develop key technical solutions, and conduct pilot manufacturing of some typical infrastructure structures.
The Ministry of Education and Training has ordered research and development of technical solutions for high-speed railways, while contributing to training high-quality human resources for this field.

Regarding scientific products, there must be 8 scientific articles published in journals in the Web of Science category, ranked Scimago Q3 or Q4; 16 articles published in domestic scientific journals, in the category that the State Council of Professors ranks 0.5 points or higher.
Regarding training products, there must be 8 graduate students successfully defending their master's theses according to the research direction of the program, or 7 graduate students successfully defending their master's theses and one doctoral student successfully defending their topic according to the research direction of the topic.
Along with that, there must be application products such as a summary report of integrated systems in high-speed railways; factors affecting the design of high-speed railway systems and interfaces; a report proposing criteria, requirements and solutions for monitoring and warning of disasters in the operation and maintenance of high-speed railway infrastructure to ensure longevity and operation requirements.
The program implementers must also provide guidance on bridge span structure design, design of abutments, piers and foundations; provide 3D calculation models using finite element method considering arch effects, array effects of pile-grid structures; provide guidance on experimental methods to serve the inspection and assessment of the quality of high-quality railway infrastructure...
It is known that Vietnam is promoting the first North-South high-speed railway project. This railway line will start construction in December 2026, with a total length of 1,541 km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, a design speed of 350 km/h, with a total investment of 1,713 trillion VND (about 67.34 billion USD).
