Reporting at the meeting, teacher Phan Thi Hoa, Principal of Yen Binh Primary School, informed: Floodwaters appeared at night and rose very quickly, the water level in the school was about 2.5-3.5m. The main school and Dong Xa school were completely flooded, causing the principal's office, the office, all machinery, equipment, utensils and all kinds of school documents to be deeply submerged in water and heavily damaged by mud; the total estimated damage was about more than 2 billion VND.
Before, during and after the storm, the school's Board of Directors proactively implemented measures to prevent and combat storms and floods according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Flood and Storm Prevention Committee of Yen Binh commune; reminded staff, teachers and employees to evacuate to safe places to avoid storms and floods. The school has compiled statistics, assessed the extent of damage, and organized post-storm and flood recovery to stabilize teaching and learning activities.

At the same time, the school has also proactively encouraged cadres, teachers, staff and workers to overcome storm and flood damage at home; organized visits and encouraged students who suffered heavy damage at home.
After the storm, the school quickly cleaned up and sanitized the environment to stabilize the facilities and bring students back to school soon. By October 16, all students had returned to school.
Boarding activities have been organized since October 20. Up to this point, 100% of students have enough textbooks, notebooks, tools, school bags, clothes and personal belongings for studying.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said: The two storms No. 10 and 11 caused heavy damage to the people, including the education sector in many localities with thousands of schools damaged and equipment damaged.
Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued many urgent and drastic directives on storm and flood prevention and control, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods, ensuring safety, and bringing students back to school soon.
Sharing the difficulties with the people, the local education sector and the Ministry of Education and Training have mobilized contributions from individuals and organizations to join hands and overcome the consequences caused by natural disasters and floods. In Lang Son province alone, the Ministry of Education and Training and units have donated 4.35 billion VND to support the education sector to overcome the damage.
Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized that the damage caused by natural disasters is very large and cannot be overcome in a day or two. Therefore, localities, especially commune-level education management officials, will continue to pay close attention to educational activities in the area.

"Although the gifts are small, we hope they will be used effectively, for the right purpose, ensuring fairness, supporting in all aspects, and soon restoring teaching and learning activities in the locality," the Deputy Minister shared.
