At the meeting, the two sides shared the similarities in the long-standing and good traditional cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Bangladesh, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment. Two-way trade turnover has grown steadily, reaching about 1.5-2 billion USD in recent times. According to the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment , Bangladesh has invested about 1.2 million USD with 24 projects in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan welcomed the delegation of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh to work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment to exchange information on investment, as well as to encourage businesses to seek opportunities in each country's market; at the same time, he said that the economic , trade and investment relations between the two countries still have a lot of room for development.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan suggested that the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh pay attention to promoting business and investment cooperation in areas that are strengths of each country, such as industrial development, textiles, import and export, etc. At the same time, he emphasized that the Ministry of Planning and Investment is ready to coordinate with the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh and relevant agencies to provide information on policies, laws as well as potential areas where the two sides can promote investment opportunities; creating all favorable conditions for foreign investors to do business and operate sustainably in Vietnam.
The representative of the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh, Ms. Asma Sultana, updated the latest information and adjustments in trade, import-export, and investment attraction of Bangladesh, and suggested that the two sides organize trade connections between enterprises in potential fields such as textile and garment production, footwear, food processing, electronics, etc. and cooperate together to improve the value chain and investment.
Ms. Asma Sultana also hopes that the two countries will strengthen cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture when Bangladesh has a demand for agricultural products and food and Vietnam is a country with strengths in exporting rice, seafood, coffee, etc.
