“Jumbo and his Amazing Friends” is not only an entertaining animated film for children, but also an emotional journey about maturity, friendship, family and the journey to regain faith in oneself. The film is highly appreciated for its touching plot, eye-catching effects and profound message that easily touches all generations of audiences.

Don - "little elephant" in the form of a lonely boy

Jumbo revolves around Don, a 10-year-old orphan boy, often called “Jumbo” by his friends because of his chubby body and shy personality. Don’s isolated life changes when he accidentally discovers a book of fairy tales left by his parents and meets Meri, a magical little fairy.

Together, Don and Meri enter a fantasy world where lessons of courage, friendship and self-worth are revealed. Jumbo’s world is not just for children, it is a space where adults can reflect on themselves too: forgotten wounds, set aside dreams and the desire to be recognized.

“We don’t just make animated films. We tell local stories with global aspirations,” said Anggia Kharisma, producer of Jumbo.

From Homegrown Phenomenon to Milestone in Southeast Asian Animation

After just one week of showing in Indonesia, Jumbo attracted more than 1 million viewers, and reached the 2 million ticket mark on the 11th day. Domestic revenue reached more than 8 million USD, making Jumbo the highest-grossing animated film in Southeast Asia history, surpassing Malaysia's Mechamato Movie.

Not only creating a phenomenon in its home country, the film also made its mark on the international market when it was licensed for distribution in 17 countries including Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic and Central Asian countries...

5 years in the making - an animation dream come true

Jumbo was conceived and produced over a period of 5 years by Visinema Studios - a prominent Indonesian film studio. Director Ryan Adriandhy and his team of writers and artists poured their hearts into every frame, combining modern animation technology with a strong Asian storytelling style.

The film is voiced by a top cast including Prince Poetiray (Don), Quinn Salman (Meri), Bunga Citra Lestari (Don's mother), and has received many positive reviews from international experts and general audiences.

Not just animation, but a healing journey

With its inspiring message of embracing differences, finding inner strength and reconnecting with loved ones, Jumbo easily touches the hearts of many generations. From traumatised children to self-conscious adults - everyone can see themselves in Don's eyes and the gentle magic of the fairy Meri.

The special thing is that the Vietnamese dubbed version is done meticulously, helping the audience easily access and sympathize more deeply with the characters. Meanwhile, the bilingual subtitle version still retains the native emotions from the original Indonesian language - a great choice for international cinema lovers.
