On the afternoon of August 3, in Hanoi , the National Data Association (NDA) held an Executive Committee meeting to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and develop work directions for the last 6 months of 2025.
General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Chairman of the National Data Association chaired the Conference.
Speaking at the Conference, Minister, General Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the National Data Association was established with the goal of becoming an organization that brings together leading scientists and business managers in Vietnam.
According to Minister Luong Tam Quang, the ultimate goal of the Association is to create a close cooperative environment, making the most of the potential of each member to achieve common efficiency.
The Minister affirmed: “If data is not unified and centralized, digital transformation efforts in the economy and society will hardly succeed. This poses an urgent requirement for the Association to build effective support mechanisms and policies for businesses and organizations.”
The conference was attended by members of the Standing Committee, Executive Committee members, leaders of professional departments and representative members representing more than 750 members of the Association.
According to the Report on the results of the first 6 months of the year, the Association has 750 members, of which 225 members are organizations and enterprises, and 525 are individual members.
Of which, technology enterprises dominate with 129 enterprises, application enterprises with 94 enterprises.
Notably, there are 82 enterprises that own large amounts of data, focusing on strategic areas such as healthcare, e-commerce, tourism, and education.
In the context that science, technology and data have become important resources and means of production of the country, the National Data Association has accompanied the Government, the National Assembly and specialized agencies in the process of building policies and legal documents related to data and digital technology.
In which, the Data Law, Personal Data Protection Law, Digital Technology Industry Law, Science, Technology and Innovation Law,... are some typical marks.
The Association also deploys data application scenarios in key areas such as: industry, agriculture, trade, logistics, finance-banking, health-medicine, culture-tourism, environment-meteorology, urban, safety-emergency.
Building data application scenarios is considered to help materialize new business models, optimize operations, and forecast markets. Thereby turning data into productive assets equivalent to capital, labor, and technology.
At the Conference, the National Data Association announced the Decision to establish the Office, Specialized Committees and the Data Science Institute under the Association.
The Institute of Data Science is a strategic academic research unit of the National Data Association. It will also be the place to develop data analysis tools, provide data strategy consulting, build scientific arguments for data policies, technical standards, measurement methods and data application models in socio-economic development.
