The Ministry of National Defense inspected the preparations for the deployment of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 and Engineering Team No. 3.

( Bqp.vn ) – On the morning of September 16, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense delegation led by Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Inter-agency Working Group, Deputy Head of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee for participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations inspected the preparations for the departure ceremony of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 (BVDC2.6) and Engineering Team No. 3 to depart for international missions.

After listening to the report and directly inspecting the preparations of Field Hospital 2.6 and Engineering Team 3, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan commended the agencies and units for their close and serious coordination in carrying out the assigned tasks. Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan directed the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and relevant agencies and units to continue to coordinate closely, overcome difficulties, and prepare the best human resources, vehicles, and equipment according to United Nations standards to perform well the tasks in the area as well as ensure that the two units depart as planned; urgently complete the preparations to ensure the successful organization of the departure ceremony. The work of transporting people and goods to the area is according to schedule; the work of packing and preserving equipment must be carried out meticulously and carefully to ensure safety during the transportation process.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan also requested agencies and units to carefully review the proposed plan to ensure the successful completion of assigned tasks. Coordinate with the Australian Embassy and Defense Attaché in Hanoi to support the transportation of Field Hospital 2.6 to the South Sudan Mission and welcome Field Hospital 2.5 back to the country. Continue to pay attention to policy work and the Army's rear, ensuring that officers and staff of Field Hospital 2.6 and Engineering Team 3 can confidently set out to carry out UN peacekeeping missions.

According to Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, 100% of the officers and staff of Field Hospital 2.6 and Engineering Team No. 3 have a firm ideological stance, are confident in their work, and are ready to depart to carry out their missions. Up to now, the training for the two units has been completed according to plan, ensuring compliance with the regulations and requirements of the United Nations. In the remaining time before departure, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department will organize additional training on generator operation and equipment repair to improve the capacity and expertise of Engineering Team No. 3 according to actual requirements in the area.

Regarding the procurement and handover of self-sustaining goods and equipment, Major General Pham Manh Thang said that the Military Medical Academy has handed over to the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping about 98% of all kinds of self-sustaining goods and equipment. For some medical chemicals with short shelf life and requiring strict preservation, the Military Medical Academy proposed to organize the handover close to the time of deployment of Field Hospital 2.6. The Engineering Corps has also handed over to the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping about 70% of the goods. The remaining goods will continue to be handed over in the coming time for classification, packaging and transportation to the area. Regarding the preparation for the Departure Ceremony of Field Hospital 2.6 and Engineering Team No. 3, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department coordinated with relevant agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense and functional agencies of Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport to organize coordination meetings and conduct field surveys at the event areas.
