The General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army handed over gratitude houses to martyrs' relatives.

Attending the event were Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.

With the attention of the leaders of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army in supporting the funding to build a house of gratitude for the family of Ms. Vo Thi Thuong, the daughter of martyr Vo Phung, who died in the resistance war against French colonialism, agencies, units and contractors have coordinated to build the house according to plan. The house started construction on April 1, 2024 and was completed on August 30, 2024. The house was built in a level 4 style, with a usable area of ​​35m2, with a total cost of 165 million VND, of which the General Staff supported 80 million VND. During the construction of the house, the locality mobilized forces to support additional working days.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, warmly encouraged and congratulated Ms. Vo Thi Thuong's family on receiving support from the General Staff to build a house of gratitude. From now on, the family will have a new house and a spacious and warm place to worship martyrs. This is a very meaningful work, demonstrating the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", "Repaying gratitude" of the Army and officers and soldiers of the General Staff towards the families of war invalids and martyrs. Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son hopes that the family will continue to promote the tradition and contribute to building a rich and developed homeland.

Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son said: In the first 9 months of 2024, the entire army visited and presented policy gifts worth over 1,647 billion VND; built 2,030 gratitude houses, 8,210 solidarity houses with a total amount of 552.7 billion VND. Supported 681 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Searched for and collected 959 martyrs' remains (domestic: 261, in Laos: 104, in Cambodia: 594). Thua Thien Hue province alone received funding support from agencies and units to build 70 gratitude houses and solidarity houses...

“The above activities demonstrate the affection, responsibility and gratitude of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army towards people with revolutionary contributions and policy families, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, and enhancing the tradition and good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era,” Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son affirmed.
