Maritime Port Authority and Inland Waterways Port Authority closely monitor low pressure developments and provide guidance to ships before granting permission to leave port.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 p.m. on July 17, the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.5 degrees North latitude, 126.2 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of the Philippines, with strong winds of level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting to level 9. It is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours, the tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a storm, enter the East Sea and continue to increase in intensity.
By 7:00 p.m. on July 19, the tropical depression could reach level 10 intensity, gusting to level 12, as it moves deep into the northeastern waters of the East Sea - an area warned to have level 3 natural disaster risk.
Continuously inform ships and boats of the storm's direction.
Faced with this situation, the Ministry of Construction requested the Vietnam Maritime Electronic Information Company Limited to direct the coastal information station system to continuously update and promptly notify the location, direction and danger level of the tropical depression to ships and boats operating at sea, helping fishermen proactively avoid or not enter dangerous areas.
The Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration is assigned to direct Maritime Port Authorities and Inland Waterways Port Authorities to closely monitor the development of low pressure, guide ships before granting permission to leave port; strictly manage departures, maintain contact with transport ships and tourist boats operating in the affected area, inspect and guide safe anchoring, especially in areas around the island.
The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center is required to prepare rescue forces and equipment to deploy when required.
Strengthen duty and report regularly
All relevant agencies and units are required to maintain 24/7 on-duty and regularly report to the Ministry of Construction's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN) via phone number 0989.642.456 and email [email protected].
According to forecasts, from the afternoon of July 18, the northeastern part of the East Sea will begin to experience strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9, waves of 2.5-3.5m high, and rough seas. Ships operating in this area face a high risk of being affected by gusts of wind, whirlwinds, large waves, and thunderstorms.
The Ministry of Construction emphasized the need to proactively respond, not be subjective, to minimize possible damage in the context of continued complicated weather developments.
