During the parade rehearsal and marching ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the "beautiful ladies" of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Force impressed not only with their beautiful appearance but also with their quick, strong, and decisive command movements, demonstrating the heroic strength of the formation.
One heart towards Dien Bien
26 years old, female soldier of Thai Binh Hoang Thi Thu was selected as the leader of the Peacekeeping unit to participate in the parade on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
At the training ground of the National Military Training Center 4 (Hanoi), professional soldier Lieutenant Hoang Thi Thu and her sisters of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Force maintained a solemn formation, despite the hot sun on the training ground that made everyone's faces flushed and sweaty.
Block leader Thu said that in the past she was always impressed with articles and reports written about the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Force participating in international missions at the United Nations.
She was especially impressed with the uniforms of the "green beret" soldiers with the two words Vietnam on the chest.
On the day she received the news that she was selected to join the parade, Ms. Thu could not hide her joy and pride at wearing the uniform of the force that she had admired for a long time. After undergoing a health, height, and appearance examination, she met the selection criteria. From Military Region 3, Ms. Thu and her mobile sisters went to Hanoi to participate in training.
During the break, Ms. Thu shared that the training ground was as hot as fire during the summer days of April. But despite the sun and wind, the sisters still enthusiastically practiced to master the command movements, demonstrating the strength and spirit of female soldiers, no less than that of male soldiers.
To protect their health, group leader Thu said that women must prepare a lot of things for themselves, especially sunscreen to take care of their facial skin every day.
In the early days of not being used to the heat in the capital, professional military lieutenant Nguyen Thi Huong (Hai Phong City Military Command) confided that sometimes she felt tired and her health was affected when practicing at high intensity in the hot weather.
However, thanks to the guidance of the military medical force, just a few days of training later, the female soldier regained her form, determined to train her body, eat and sleep on time, and increase self-discipline in studying and living to meet the assigned tasks.
Putting aside personal feelings for the common mission of celebrating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory
On the training ground, they practice enthusiastically, but at night they cannot avoid missing home and their children. The female soldiers put aside their personal worries, all for the common mission, wholeheartedly contributing their small efforts "for Dien Bien".
For Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung (Ha Nam Province Military Command), after more than a month at the training ground, the thing that the female military doctor was most concerned about was her young son. Luckily, her husband was in the same force so he always understood and shared her mission.
To become a solid support for his wife to work with peace of mind, he took on the responsibility of taking care of the children when his wife was away from home. The grandparents also took turns picking up and dropping off their grandson whenever the young couple was busy with work.
Ms. Nhung confided that after each day of practice, in the evening after the family activities, she took the opportunity to connect to her family by phone to talk to her children, "just looking at pictures of her children helps to relieve her longing". Loving his wife, her husband always shared and encouraged her to try to practice well, to excellently complete the tasks assigned by the Ministry of National Defense so that she could return to her family soon.
"Later, I will tell my children about my special mission, the honor of continuing the tradition of our ancestors. That will be the motivation for them to continue in the future, to practice and become more mature," Ms. Nhung confided.
For female soldier Nguyen Thi Huong, before the day of departure, the luggage she brought with her was not only military equipment but also words of encouragement from her children. The mother said that her children are very affectionate, especially the older ones who often confide in their mother about things at school and in class. On the day she left for work, the older ones also encouraged their mother in return so that she could feel secure, work well and complete the assigned tasks well.
"Every night my child calls me to encourage me, saying that he is very proud to tell his friends and teachers about his mother's job and promises to stay home and be good, listen to his father and grandparents so that his mother can feel secure doing her job here," Ms. Huong was moved.
Ready for the country's important event
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cao Thiu, captain of the female Peacekeeping Company, said that more than 90 female soldiers selected to join the female Peacekeeping Team to participate in the parade and march are all enthusiastically practicing to be ready to carry out their duties for the country's important event.
He shared that the weather has been hot these past few days, so his daily workouts start from 6:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (with two breaks in between).
"During the training, the female comrades were very enthusiastic, trying to overcome all difficulties, including family circumstances and health. There were times when they were tired but always determined to overcome difficulties to complete the assigned tasks," said Lieutenant Colonel Thiu.
