Courage in the face of bullets, perseverance in the face of gunpowder
In the historic April of 1975, when the call of the country resounded from Truong Son to the Mekong Delta, Dong Nai - with the heroic town of Xuan Loc (now Long Khanh City) - became the last "steel door", where the will to "die for the Fatherland" converged.
For 12 days and nights (April 9-21, 1975), amidst the bombs and bullets, our army and people firmly held their guns, held every meter of land, every hill, and destroyed the dense defense line that the enemy had mobilized all of its elite forces to defend. Xuan Loc - where every stone and drop of water was soaked in blood and will, resounded with the rumbling sound of gunfire, marking the collapse of the last defense line. The gunfire of Xuan Loc not only destroyed the will to defend of the Saigon regime, but also engraved a steel truth: "One day is equal to 20 years" - every hour of fighting shortened the path to national reunification.
Like a dam bursting, after the victory of Xuan Loc, our speedy army continued to attack and liberate Trang Bom - the remaining key defensive position in the East. On April 27, 1975, Trang Bom was ablaze with smoke and fire. In that battle, red blood stained the land. The liberation flag fluttered, opening a rapid path straight to Bien Hoa - Saigon, ending the years of division, bringing the country back together. Trang Bom has recorded its name in history as the opening shot of total victory, echoing from the Dong Nai field to the whole of Vietnam.
But the victory would not be complete if the vital bridges were not held. Ghenh Bridge and Hoa An Bridge - strategic routes connecting the armies - became steel to test the hearts of the people. Under the rain of bombs and bullets, the special forces and infantry soldiers of Dong Nai fought to the death to defend the bridge, determined: "Rather sacrifice than let the bridge fall into enemy hands". Blood mixed with the water of Dong Nai River, but the steely will and the steadfast hearts of the people became a miraculous launching pad, bringing the victorious army straight into the heart of the South - Saigon.
Dong Nai - during those days of war was not just a place name on the war map. It was an immortal sacred flame that burned forever in the hearts of the nation. It was a towering monument of patriotism, of the desire for peace , of Vietnamese bravery in the face of life and death challenges. Every inch of Dong Nai land at that time was a testament to sacrifice. Every river and forest today is an endless song of faith and indomitable will.
Strong in action thinking, effective
50 years after liberation, Dong Nai - from a land plowed by bombs and bullets - has transformed into a model new rural area, a modern industrial area, a dynamic growth pole of the Southeast region and the whole country.
In the new journey, Dong Nai not only aims for rapid development, but also aims for green, sustainable development, in harmony between economy - society and environment. Since 2022, Dong Nai has maintained a stable GRDP growth rate of 8 - 8.5%/year - a proud result in the context of many regional and global economic fluctuations. The province's economic structure is shifting strongly towards greening: high-tech agriculture, clean industry, green logistics services increasingly account for a large proportion of the gross domestic product; developing sustainable agriculture, protecting natural resources and the ecological environment. Developing Dong Nai greener, cleaner, more sustainable is a command from the requirements of today's life and also a responsibility to future generations.
It is a great honor and immense pride that Dong Nai was chosen by the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security as a key base for the military parade and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. On the sunny training ground of Bien Hoa, thousands of soldiers practiced day and night with great enthusiasm, forging a steely will for the historic moment. From Bien Hoa airport, groups of Vietnam's most modern aircraft - Su30-MK2, Yak-130 - soared into the sky, preparing for the ceremony of flying to welcome the reunification of the country. And at the most sacred moment, 15 honorary cannons will simultaneously resound over the historic Bach Dang wharf, resounding the heroic song of independence, marking the glorious milestone of the nation.
Dong Nai - the revolutionary base of the past - today continues to be a solid support, contributing to a national festival filled with joy, pride and aspirations of the entire army and people of Vietnam.
Along with the development of the green economy, along with the whole country, Dong Nai is carrying out a major revolution in the organization of the administrative apparatus - a strong step to create a streamlined institutional foundation, flexible operation, and high efficiency. According to the determined roadmap, by the second quarter of 2025, the province strives to: reduce 60 - 70% of commune-level administrative units; merge related departments and branches, strongly streamline focal points, and reduce intermediate levels. The consistent policy is clearly defined by the Provincial Party Committee: to build an apparatus that is not only streamlined in organization, but also strong in thinking and action, effective for the people and the country.
Across departments, agencies, and sectors, a new working spirit has spread strongly: cadres, civil servants, and public employees are willing to work overtime, through the night, regardless of holidays. Traditional management thinking has been replaced by a service mindset, taking the satisfaction of people and businesses as a measure of work results.
That spirit was emphasized at the 11th Provincial Party Executive Committee Conference (Term XI): each cadre and each unit must uphold the sense of responsibility, act with heart and mind, and not waste any opportunity in the new growth race. This is not only a call for the emulation movement in the entire political system, but also a command from the hearts of the leaders who are shouldering the responsibility of leading Dong Nai to rise strongly in the new era.
Surpass yourself - with fiery spirit
Promoting the tradition of resilience in the face of fire, Dong Nai today enters a new battle - a battle with itself, to break through and rise up with its own internal strength and unshakable aspiration. With the spirit of "high determination, drastic action", the whole Dong Nai province has clearly defined the goal: GRDP growth strives to reach 10% in 2025. Creating a strong shift in growth quality, labor productivity and innovation.
To realize this challenging but also aspirational goal, Dong Nai has synchronously deployed many breakthrough solutions: promoting disbursement of public investment capital - establishing a special working group directly directed by the provincial leaders, reviewing each project, removing each bottleneck, with the disbursement target reaching over 95% of the plan. Strongly developing free trade zones, international logistics clusters associated with Long Thanh airport, creating new growth poles, welcoming high-quality FDI capital flows. Shortening the time to process investment dossiers from 35 to 25 days: speeding up the progress of investment and construction licensing; removing difficulties for businesses right at the scene. Promoting comprehensive digital transformation: expanding online public services; improving the satisfaction index of people and businesses; creating a "friendly - transparent - effective" administrative environment...
In a thematic meeting on public investment disbursement and socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2025, the head of the financial sector emphasized with enthusiasm: public investment disbursement is the key task, the important key for Dong Nai to successfully achieve the double-digit growth target in 2025.
Dong Nai today is not only racing against time, but is also surpassing itself, with the fiery spirit of the historic April days - persistent, determined, and full of faith in the future. From the fire of April, Dong Nai is shining with the aspiration to rise up for a prosperous Vietnam.
