Specifically, the model of raising snakehead fish in cages with high economic efficiency of Mr. Tran Van Mol in Say Nieu B hamlet, Phung Hiep commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province.

The model of raising snakehead fish densely in net cages placed under the river is effective and brings Mr. Tran Van Mol's family a stable source of income, suitable for the elderly and during off-season farming.

Mr. Mol said: Taking advantage of the water surface area of ​​the riverbank at home, he arranged 8 cages to raise snakehead fish. From the beginning of 2024 to November 2024, with the number of snakehead fish raised being 20,000, Mr. Mol sold 5 tons of fish.

Mr. Mol sells snakehead fish for 42,000 VND/kg, earning 210 million VND. After deducting 100 million VND in expenses, the family still has a profit of 110 million VND.

Currently, Mr. Mol has continued to raise snakehead fish in 8 cages (including 4 cages for sale during Tet and 4 cages for sale after Tet).

Mr. Mol added: This Lunar New Year, he sold 4 cages of snakehead fish, estimated at 2.5 tons of fish, with the snakehead fish selling price of 45,000 VND/kg, profit of over 50 million VND.

In total, the total profit in 2024 from Mr. Mol's family's snakehead fish farming model in net cages placed on the river is more than 160 million VND.

Mr. Tran Van Mol, a farmer who raises snakehead fish densely in net cages placed under the river in Say Nieu B hamlet, Phung Hiep commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, is feeding the snakehead fish. Mr. Mol said that this Tet he will sell tons of snakehead fish at good prices.

Mr. Mol added that his family collects fish skin and fish heads as by-products from fish traders scraping fish cakes to utilize these by-products as the main food source for snakehead fish.

The price of by-product fish is only 3,000 VND/kg, so the investment cost, specifically the cost of snakehead fish feed, is much lower than raising fish with industrial feed.

Through many years of experience raising snakehead fish using by-product fish, Mr. Mol said: With 5 kg of by-product bait fish, 1 kg of snakehead fish will gain weight.

Raising snakehead fish using the model of raising in cages on the river surface is very convenient because there is no need to change the water. Snakehead fish cages have a constant flow of water, so the water source ensures that the fish can adapt and develop well, and the fish are less susceptible to disease...

With the above effectiveness, Mr. Mol affirmed that he will continue to develop the snakehead fish farming model in cages placed on the river in the near future.
